Today is the new year and also the first Hive Power Up Day or HPUD or HivePUD, you can call it whatever looks convenient to you. Interestingly, when I checked for the official contest, I actually found that the organizer of HPUD does not look active in Hive and last "official" HPUD happened 2 year back on January 1, 2024. But now HPUD is more in the spirit of Hivians, less off the competition. One good thing is that though that official competition is no longer there, but @hivebuzz is still leading and promoting this spirit by awarding the badges in various categories. Hivians do like to collect these badges and do time up their power on that time window that I guess is the first of the month in GMT or UTC time.
In this HPUD, my plan is to power up 750 Hive, and this power up help me in achieving my milestone of 39K HP. Since this effectively helped me to cross 39500 Hive power, so next milestone of 40K HP is also not far away and I am confident to complete it before the February HPUD. Now if you ask why I am powering up Hive, then I guess my answer will be the almost same as mentioned in the announcement post of HPUD by hivebuzz
Why participate in the Hive PUD The first reason is to have fun and get a badge!
And here are some other great reasons to power-up your HIVE:
Strengthen your influence on the blockchain with stronger votes on content, proposals and witnesses. Earn more curation rewards. The more Hive Power you have, the more you can potentially earn back Earn "interest" by holding Hive Power. You will also earn HIVE passively at about 3% per year of what you currently have powered up so the more HIVE you have, the more you can earn from just holding!
For me above also hold true and I am in my path to get 150K Hive power in long run, and I have target of 50K hive power before the end of year 2026.
