Sometimes I sit down and ask myself this same question. How much money will really make me stop worrying? Not just the kind of small cash that disappears after one month of bills, but the kind that gives peace of mind, the kind that makes you sleep well at night knowing you’re okay.
I remembered back then when was struggling with life. Then l just lost my job infact every day l wake up my thinking is about money. It was like my whole happiness depend on it. Even when I tried to smile, deep down I was scared on how to pay rent, how to feed, how to move on. That period taught me something big: financial freedom is not just about having plenty money; it’s about having peace in your heart.
For me, I think true freedom starts when money no longer controls your mood or your choices. Some people think they need millions before they can be free, but sometimes, even a small steady income that covers your needs and allows you live simple can bring that peace.
I remembered a man who was running a small shop in my area back then. He has no get car, no mansion, but every time you see him, he’s smiling. I once asked him why he’s always happy, and he said, “I don’t owe anybody, my children dey eat, my rent dey paid, and I sleep well. That one na freedom for me.” Those words touched me. Because in truth, freedom means different things to different people.
For some, it’s traveling the world, for others, it’s being debt-free or just being able to care for family without begging. The real question is, when will you feel enough is enough? I’ve come to understand that the more we chase money, the more it runs. But when we build sense, plan small, save small, and reduce unnecessary pressure, that’s when we start living.
So maybe it’s not about how much exactly maybe it’s about how wisely we live with what we have. Because in the end, true financial freedom is not counted in numbers, it’s measured in peace.
