From Family Cinema to Violence and Vulgarity

Welcome back,
As time has passed over the last 2 decades, I can clearly say that a lot of things have changed, whether it is education, technology, cinema, or the way we used to entertain ourselves.

Back then, I remember there were movies where we used to sit together as a family and watch the entire movie because there was no vulgarity in them. It was pure comedy and pure cinema with beautiful stories.

Today, things have changed, and sadly, it feels like the opposite. We now see vulgarity, nudity, toxicity, and a lot of violence. These types of movies are becoming box office hits.

Take the example of movies like Marco or KGF. These movies had a lot of violence and were based on real life mafia stories, and people actually loved them. In fact, people are willing to pay more money for violent content compared to movies that try to teach something meaningful.

If you look at movies like Elephant Whispers, which was an Indian documentary that won an Oscar, it received very little attention from the general audience.

This clearly shows that people have stopped supporting such content. Many people now believe that cinema is purely for entertainment, and entertainment, according to them, should come with vulgarity, nudity, and extreme violence. That is why such content is being consumed more.

What should really worry us is the impact this type of content has on our minds. I was recently reading an article which mentioned that the content we consume directly impacts our brain and our personality.

If someone is very young and is constantly consuming violent content, it is not a good idea unless they are mature enough to understand that cinema and reality are two very different things.

Otherwise, a person might start believing that justice should be delivered in the same way it is shown in movies, which is clearly not right.

This, in my opinion, is one of the biggest problems today. I truly miss the old days when movies like Dhamal and Bhagam Bhag were released, where there was no vulgarity and comedy was pure and clean.

Unlike today, where it is very hard to find good movies, especially in the comedy genre.

Thank you and happy trading everyone.
