Family Traditions That Bring Joy
Growing up in a family like mine, we had so many family traditions that we all had to uphold as a family. While there were a lot of them that annoyed me and I never failed to hide my dissatisfaction about them, there were others that stood out and are dear to me to this day.
One of my family traditions that we all cherish is the celebration of birthdays. In my family, birthdays are very important. We don’t throw elaborate birthday parties but we make sure to celebrate everyone on their birthdays.
In my family, it’s a taboo to be sad on your birthday. My family goes all out for such celebrations as my mum is the architect of this tradition as she says she is the only one who knows the stress that came with carrying us for nine months, giving birth, and also nursing us. To her, birthdays are a big deal so she successfully instilled the birthday tradition in us.
On any member of the family's birthday, we usually woke up early to decorate the house and march down to the celebrant's room with a cake. We sang for the celebrant before graduating into full celebration mood. It was always nice to be celebrated in a majestic way and to be treated nicely on your special day.
The birthday tradition is very important to everyone in my family. Despite not living in the same house, the tradition continues, but this time adopting a digital form which I find very fascinating.
It is always nice to see my family uphold this tradition despite everyone being in their respective homes and geographical locations.
Birthdays aren't just casual occasions in my family, they are joyful celebrations of being privileged to be part the family.
I love how simple the birthday traditions of my family are. They are simple yet special and memorable. That’s the kind of person I am. I derive happiness in the simplicity of life, hence this particular tradition being dear to me.
When I start my family, I will do well to pass on this beautiful family tradition of ours.
I do not believe in breaking the bank to celebrate one's birthday but in making it remarkable in your little way.

Birthday celebrations are not just celebration, it marks the beginning of a new era of life, a more refined growth, and a privilege to be alive. so it should be celebrated even with even ordinary word,by sending good wishes to the celebrant

Sometimes I think birthdays shouldn't be about us, but to celebrate and thank our mother who bought us to this world. Maybe that's why your mother places so much emphasis on birthdays in your family. It's a very nice tradition, and it's great that your family all take part. That's the most important thing
Spot on!! Our mothers deserve to be celebrated too. They had to make a lot of sacrifices for us.
