Hidden Costs in Flight Booking | My Experience with Amazon and Other Platforms
Hello to my fellow community members,
Friends, today I was trying to book my flight ticket from Delhi to Dubai using Amazon. I usually prefer that platform because they give some good cashback, and I also love exploring different platforms to find the best possible price for my flights.
But honestly, I felt a little sad today after checking Amazon as well as other platforms.
Most of them showed flight prices starting at a much lower rate, and I was shocked because I was expecting the prices to be higher.
But when I explored further, I realized those prices were for flights with really long stopovers. Some had one or even two stops with 17 hours of waiting time! And obviously, I am not going to wait that long. I don’t like it at all, and I always prefer to take a direct flight for my journey.
On Amazon Pay, I saw prices starting from 6,000 to 8,000 INR, but the moment I filtered for direct flights, the prices doubled. Then when I proceeded further and selected the seats, the prices increased again.
That honestly made me a little sad. I really feel there should be an option to show the exact price that will actually be charged to the person booking the ticket.
Transparency is what’s missing on most of these platforms, and I think it’s very important.
Among all the platforms, I still prefer either Amazon or MakeMyTrip because they give the option of paying for flight tickets in EMI.
And these are no-cost EMI, which is quite surprising because usually, we have to pay interest on EMI. On MakeMyTrip, you get no-cost EMI easily, and on Amazon, if you have Amazon Pay Later, you also get the option to pay later.
So, if you are someone who wants to book flight tickets on EMI, these two are the best platforms in my opinion. If you know any other platform that provides this option, do share in the comments so that I can add it to my list and explore it in the future.

I had a similar frustration last month trying to book a quick trip to Mumbai. I started looking at alternative booking sites just to compare, but after reading https://chatdeal.pissedconsumer.com/review.html, I realized that chasing the absolute lowest advertised price can sometimes lead to even more headaches with support if things go wrong.
