"If Your Goals Doesn't Scare You, Then They Are Not Good Enough"
~Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
Setting goals is something I never did, don't even try it until I did the newbies initiative programme.
That was the very first place I saw how impactful working towards achieving a goal you've set for yourself could be.
People often get confused when they are told to set goals and this is because they just see that as an avenue to pile up all they want in 100years (by this I mean they make a list of unachievable goals and throw it out as their goals) and guess what?
At a point, it becomes clear to them they can't achieve what they have written and they get tired of even trying at all....
This was the reason why @starstrings01 taught us the trick behind making goals and he called them SMART which is an acronym for..
Everything on earth has got one or two benefits if you own them but you can't have everything at the same time and this is why a goal should be specific.
There are many clothings for instance; trousers, shirts, shorts and so on, so setting a goal on clothing will be you saying, "you will buy 2 trousers"; that's very specific implying what you need at the moment is trousers; this helps you make a better planning.
One thing is to make goals and another thing is to follow it up and execute the actions necessary to actualise those goals.
Making goals doesn't take anything, I mean you just get a paper and scribble words down , might even go ahead to plaster it on your walls but, the main deal comes with making necessary sacrifices to actualise those goals.
For this reason, you ought to know that you're making progress towards actualising your goals and this is where measurable comes in.. it's a way of making sure you're making progress on your already set goals.
This is where a lot of persons get confused.
Making a goal entails making a list of something realistic.
As someone who is earning $200 as your salary at the end of the month, literally you have $2400 at the end of the year and you don't have other businesses that gives you money, so how come you're making a goal of buying a car sold at $5000 at the end of the year or do you intend to steal?
Above all, a goal should be relevant. Your goal should align with what you're seeking.
You wouldn't make a goal of buying a car when you have no roof covering your head nor make a goal of marriage when you can't even feed yourself yet.
What makes goal setting interesting is the time limit that comes with it.
Placing a time at which you want to achieve those goals increases your motivation towards actualising those goals.
All these things are now what I consider before setting my goals' list
For the purpose of this prompt, I'll be focusing on my Hive, HivePower or HBD in our wallets.
i really don't have plans on liquid hive to be honest because I almost power up with any hive that comes my way and that's why I have almost nothing there.
I currently have this and I'm sure I'll be powering up once it reaches 2, lol.
I want to have 3000HP by the end of this year which will be achieved by making quality posts consistently.
I currently have 1893HP so I need 1107HP to attain my goal which I know is doable with consistency.
I plan on making atleast 4 posts every week, engaging in different community prompts and engaging in the posts of other bloggers too enhancing my visibility on hive.
By the end of the year, my goal is to have 100HBD in my savings wallet.
I already have 10 and I plan on increasing them after every week by dividing my earnings into two and keeping it there.
There's never a figure anyone can settle with, by the way even the richest man is constantly developing ways of making more money and that is to justify my stance that no figure will be enough, however, one of the qualities of making a goal entails attainability....
If I'm able to wrap the year up with those figures on my goals, I will be very contented and happy with myself.
What's there to change in a perfect plan if it works for you?
On papers, my plans are wonderful and when I practicalise them and it works for me, I'll keep on doing them since it yielded results so rather than changing my plans, I'll be adding more sauce to those plans to bring out the best version of them.
The reason why goals aren't achieved remains the challenges that comes with them... The world is not a bed of roses to anyone not even our goals so definitely hitches will come your way but persistency is all you need even in the face of crisis to come out victorious.
As a student, there might be week(s) which I will be so occupied with school activities that I might not have a second to look the other way and get to hive for my activities because my first assignment currently is graduating, however, once the time permits again, I'll bounce back and keep chasing my goals.
The good thing about making goals is that they help bring out the best version of yourself and they are a great source of motivation to you.
You might end up not achieving your goals even though the plans were perfect which is always painful but, the good side remains that they get you closer to your goals.
Set your goals today,
Make use of SMART ,
Go for it and you'll get it.
My entry for the #iucontest here indiaunited contest.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day
Merging offline activities with hive activities can be quite challenging. I recently came back from NYSC camp and I know how much negative impact it had on my hive growth but there is nothing I could do about it because as much as i want my hive career to progress I wouldn't want my educational career to be stagnant.
Finding a balance between them isn't an easy task honestly
It's just one of those things that could pose as challenges to us but we just have to do the much we can
