My special haven_s

No matter how much of a workaholic one might be, he or she will surely have atleast one place to retreat to when the world becomes too noisy, chaotic and overwhelming. A place characterized by peace, tranquility and privacy (in some cases).

That one place that guarantees an escape from all the hullabaloos of life and I believe everyone has their respective getaways.

I happen to be an introvert and I can say it was all thanks to the way I was brought up. Or maybe it's just how I'm meant to be???
My parents never liked the idea of my siblings and I going downstairs to play with other kids for one reason or the other. So we ended up doing everything doable within the walls of our apartment and it became part of me.

Fast forward till now, stepping out of my house and the four corners of my room specifically always feels like a chore. Though I still drag myself to meet up with all responsibilities expected of me before slipping in and mind you, it's not because it's a Cinderella or perhaps, the I'm a Barbie girl kinda room.

It's the warmth that it radiates at any given point. There's this coziness I feel whenever I step into my room, my very own safe space, then go ahead take a quick scan for items that are in and out of order before snuggling myself up in a duvet.

My room is that place where I'm all alone but yet, I don't feel lonely. I get lost in thoughts, bottled feelings, hidden emotions, imaginations, reminisce over memories and go over the day's activities. I also don't cease to inspire myself to pursue my dreams.

Most times, I choose to lay in silence embracing the undiluted peace it brings. Other times, I plug in my earphone, play some cool songs and just listen, allowing the lyrics to speak to me.

Then again, if for any reason I'm to seek comfort outdoors, it would definitely be at the beach where I would sit at the shore with my feet soaked in the ocean, bask in the sun, envelope in the smell of nature, gaze at the sky marvel at the sight of the waves crashing and lapping at the shore. Just quietly taking in the whole scenery.

So I can very much say that when comfort calls, my room and the beach answers.
