Splinterlands - Are Escalation Packs Worth It? Promo cards and New Abilities Discussed

Today I am going to talk about Escalation Packs in Splinterlands. The reason why you should participate in the pre-sale and what is the best route you can take while participating in it.

In the screenshot below, you can see that the Escalation Pack currently costs 5,000 Credits, which is equal to $5. If you buy it with DEC, it is still 5,000 DEC. So you either pay 5,000 DEC or 5,000 Credits. However, the important thing to understand is that 5,000 DEC is not equal to $5 because DEC is trading below its peg value. So when you pay 5,000 DEC, it is actually worth around $2.5, which is half of what you would pay in Credits.

So if you want to buy Escalation Packs, the best way to buy them is through DEC token or SPS token. I personally bought them using SPS, and it cost me 350 SPS for one Escalation Pack.

Now coming back to what the Escalation Pack is offering.

The first thing that attracts me is the new abilities that come with this set. In the screenshot below, you can see some of the new abilities, and Apex Strike is one of them. This ability allows the monster to target the enemy unit with the highest power, which is definitely strong.

There is also Bloodline and many other abilities that you can explore by clicking the link below. I am not going into detail about each and every new ability here, so I hope you can read about them on your own.

Splinterlands New Abilities

One final reason, which is the biggest reason for me personally, is that these cards are going to be used in the Modern battle format. Since I do not have many cards from Conclave Arcana and other recent sets for Modern play mode, I am very interested in buying the Escalation Packs. I have already bought four of them, as I mentioned in my last blog.

As of the time of writing this post, after 4 days 4 hours and 31 minutes we will be able to unlock the Escalation Packs and see what we received.

Two of the most featured cards can be seen in the screenshot below. I really like the card Portia nyr. It starts with three magic attack, and in its final form, it has five abilities and four magic attack, which is very impressive.

There is also a pre-sale leaderboard, as shown in the screenshot below. The players who stay in the top six positions will be rewarded with a Conflirt card bundle and other rewards shown there. Similarly, players ranked from 7 to 20 will also receive special rewards. Even if you are in the top 250, you will still receive the Emergent Rare title.

These are the special rewards for the pre-sale leaderboard. Right now, I am at rank 365, so I might not receive any rewards, but that is okay. I will try to buy more packs to reach rank 250. To reach rank 250, you must buy a total of 25 packs as of the time of writing this post.

To reach the top 200, you must buy 100 packs, which is quite a lot. I may not be able to reach that level, but for now, I am happy with the four packs I have bought.

Now I will share one of the battles I played today with the Enrage modifier.

The modifier is called What Doesn’t Kill You. In this rule set, every unit gets the Enrage ability, which gives +50% melee power and speed when the unit is not at full health. As you can see in the screenshot below, I chose the Aurelia summoner because it provides monsters with maximum melee attack power.

This was my battle lineup. By round 2, my Dire bear had already gained +5 attack power, which became a serious threat to my opponent.

The match was very dominating from that point. In the final round, it was 3 versus 1, and obviously, I won the battle.

That is all I did in Splinterlands today. I have not yet won my daily rewards, which is why I have not shared them. I hope I can win them before the time runs out.

In the screenshot above I have shared my terracore base attacks after 3 days as we were with penalties but still I was able to win some good scrap amount. I am satisfied with the win so far.

In golem overlord base we did not win much as we were there with penalties for our absence but we still claimed after using the minimum of attacks in the base.
