A NEW BEGINNING

Is it just me or is there something incredibly exciting and inspiring about the start of a new year. It feels like you've been given a second chance to start afresh, rewrite the wrongs, correct the past mistakes and start something new with endless possibilities and opportunities available. For me, this new year is more than just a date in the calendar. It's a moment for me to pause, rewire and reset. It's a wake-up call for me to be more intentional about my life and what I do with my time.

One of my resolutions in this new year would be learning the act of self discipline. Last year, I struggled to get things done. Procrastination held me back a lot. I didn't have the will power to do what needed to be done whether I liked it or not. If I didn't feel motivated or inspired it became a hard thing for me to do. I don't want that this year. And that is why I am willing and ready to learn self discipline. Cause I have finally realized that discipline is the key I need to get that work I’ve been postponing for too long, done. It is the key I need in saving up that money, I keep telling myself I would but never did. So I plan to start small, focusing on one thing at a time and making sure I get it done. It's not about being perfect but consistent.

Another important resolution of mine this year, is prioritizing my emotional and mental health. Last year was one hell of a ride. I had my fair share of stress and it was a bit overwhelming. This year I wanna take things slow. Have time for rest, taking short breaks from work, and even social media. This year. I want to prioritize my peace of mind above all else. And most importantly I want to develop that connection with myself, speak more kindly to myself, be more mindful of my feelings and wants, and explore my full potential.

There are also special things I’ve planned to do this year. Things like going out more with my friends and socialising. I want to connect with real people, not just on social media. I also want to learn a new skill, something fun and exciting. I’ve always wanted to learn how to dance. I think I might just enroll in a dance class or tutorial. Then there is also me travelling. I might just do that soon. Travelling to a new place, a new environment and just seeing the world is one thing I really wanna do this year. It might not happen all at once. But what matters is that I start somewhere.

My resolutions this year are not borne out of a need to belong or be in competition with anybody. There is no pressure at all. I’ve just made up my mind to actually live a little this year, not just exist. And also be more intentional with my growth and levelling up.

At the end of the day, a fresh start doesn't necessarily mean we erase our past, and forget all about who we were last year. Because all the mistakes, pain and struggles are a part of our rising. What it means is that, we take the lessons we’ve learnt from last year, and build a better 2026.
