A Life Of Legacy

Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗

About two weeks ago, I visited the Miango Rest Home in Jos, Nigeria; it was such a beautiful and memorable experience. As I was exploring the serene environment and admiring the peaceful surroundings, I discovered that there was a fascinating history behind the rest home—a story that is deeply tied to the sacrifice of men, faith, and the legacy they built.

The Miango Rest Home was established by a missionary named Rowland Victor Bingham. He was one of the early pioneers of missionary work in Nigeria, dedicating his life to spreading the gospel in Africa. The idea of the rest home was created as a place of rest and rejuvenation for missionaries who couldn’t travel back to their home countries due to distance. I was in awe of the idea of creating such a sanctuary, which was not only thoughtful but also impactful.

While there I came across historical picture frames on the walls of the kitchen, and I must say that I was mesmerized. The stories and images depicted the lives of people who had sacrificed so much and even their own lives to bring the gospel to Africa.Different thoughts kept me awake the whole of that night, and I realized that while I am still alive, I have a lot I need to do on this earth. I have a purpose to fulfill. I want to die empty, knowing fully well that my impact was felt here on earth.

I want to touch lives in a way that generations after generations will hear about me. Mary Slessor stopping the killing of twins in Calabar—every generation will definitely hear of her impact. I might not get heard in the world, but I want my family and my local community to hear and feel my impact in their lives.I want to be remembered as someone who touched plenty of lives, i want my legacy to be felt by generations even when i am far gone from the earth.

After I am no longer on the surface of this earth, I want all the good seeds I sow while I am still alive to grow into different beautiful trees that will provide comfort, nourishment, and hope for those who come after me. This might be achieved either through mentoring the minds of young folks, supporting different causes that would change and impact life, or simply being a source of strength and encouragement to people. I really do want my life to matter here on earth, not just for the present but for the future. I want to build the kind of legacy that says, “I was here, and I made a difference.”
