Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today’s topic is from Indiaunited, which says: “A Place That Brings You Comfort?” So let’s dive in.
A place that brings me comfort is my hostel room. As a student who stays far away from home, life can sometimes feel lonely. If I’m at home, the house is always fun, with laughter from left and right. Honestly, I miss my family, especially the food. But since I’m still in school, and I won’t be going home until December during the Christmas and New Year period, my hostel room has become my place of comfort.
Although my hostel room is not as big or lively as home, whenever I step inside after a busy day, I feel safe and relaxed. After a long day in school receiving lectures and dealing with the stress of moving around campus, the only thing I look forward to is going back to my hostel room. Once I lock the door after entering, it feels like the stress reduces and the whole world slows down.
The place I’m staying in is not noisy, unlike the next streets, because not many students live there. So after getting to my room, I can finally breathe freely. Like I said earlier, my room is not big, but it’s where I think, rest, and gather my strength. What makes it my comfort place is that it’s my own space. I can lie on my bed any way I like, play music, watch movies, read, or just sit quietly without anybody disturbing me. My room allows me to be myself without judgment because it is my comfort place.
What makes it feel like home is the way I arrange my books on my table; my clothes are well arranged in my bag even though I don’t have a wardrobe. There are some days when assignments pile up, presentations are due, lectures to attend – everything just feels jam-packed together, and it becomes so stressful because life as a student is not easy at all. But the moment I lie on my bed, the stress fades away, and I feel a sense of relief.
Sometimes if I am at home, my neighbors won’t even know because I love closing my windows and curtains when there’s electricity. But if there’s no electricity, I only open my windows, close the curtains, and lock my door from the inside. Then I lie on my bed resting, sleeping, reading, watching movies, or reading novels on my app. The only way my neighbors know I’m at home is when they see that my door is not locked from the outside and my window is not closed.
Sometimes I miss home, especially when I think about the meals they prepare or remember the warm feeling of being surrounded by loved ones. But at the same time, I’m grateful for my hostel room because it has become my second home. It brings me comfort and peace.
In conclusion, even though I live far from home, my hostel room has become that one place that brings me comfort. My hostel room may not be big or perfect, but it is enough for me, and that is what makes it special and comforting.
