The new season in Splinterlands has already started, and in the previous season I was able to reach Bronze 3, which I believe is the lowest possible league. I am not happy with that performance at all, and you can see it clearly in the screenshot below.

The very first battle of the new season came with basic rules and a mana cost of 38. For this battle, I decided to take Thalgrimor with me because it is my favorite summoner from my collection.

In the screenshot below, you can see the battle lineup from both teams. Just by looking at the lineup, I was almost sure that I was going to lose the battle. The main reason for this was Nim Guard Captain, which comes with the Void ability.

This ability reduces magic damage by 50 percent. Since my team had 2 magic attack monsters, I was clearly at a disadvantage. As expected, I ended up losing the battle.
After that loss, I waited for the second battle to start, hoping things would go better this time. In the second battle, I decided to try something new and picked a different summoner. This time, I chose Marlai Singariel, which gives +1 magic attack to all friendly monsters.

The mana cost for this battle was 58, so my strategy was to bring as many magic attack monsters as possible. However, when I looked at the battle lineup in the screenshot below, I again felt uncomfortable.
The opponent had a monster that looked like a serpent and came with 2 magic attack, along with several other magic attackers. Meanwhile, I only had 3 magic attack monsters, which again put me at a disadvantage.

In the screenshot below, you can see the final round of the battle where I eventually lost again. This time, the opponent had a special card named Mystic Scaleweaver.

This card has the ability to reduce 1 speed from all enemy units. On top of that, it was dealing 3 magic attack damage every round. Because of this single card, the entire battle shifted in favor of the opponent.

I give full credit to the opponent for winning this battle. It was a well played match, and I learned something new from it.
That is all I did in Splinterlands today. Even though I lost both battles, I am going to keep playing and learning from my mistakes.
