One of the things that give me joy the most is exercising. And not just any type of exercise, but football. I don't know how to explain the feeling, but anytime I'm on the field, I feel like every stress I’ve been carrying just disappears. Some people say it’s just a game, but to me, it’s more than that. It’s therapy, it’s healing, and sometimes, it’s where I find peace.
I started playing football from a very young age. Back then, it was just for fun, playing barefoot with friends on sandy fields. But as I grew older, I started to understand the deeper value of it. It keeps me physically fit, sharpens my mind, and even helps me control my emotions. Some days when I’m feeling down, I just put on my jersey, step out, and before long, my mood is lifted.
It pains me sometimes to see how people ignore exercise like it doesn't matter. The truth is, if only more people would exercise regularly, there would be far less health issues around us. Things like high blood pressure, obesity, fatigue, even depression, many of them can be reduced just by staying active. But most people think exercising is only for those that want to lose weight or build six packs.
Exercise is not about showing off, it’s about taking care of the body that carries you every day. You don’t have to go to gym or run 10km to say you’ve exercised. Even walking briskly for 20 minutes or playing with your kids outside can go a long way. But people prefer to sit in one place all day and eat anyhow, then later run to the hospital when the body starts complaining.
I really wish more people would find something active they enjoy and do it often. For me, it's football. For you, it could be dance, swimming, jogging, or even gardening. The important thing is to move your body. And if you can find something that brings you joy while doing it, then it becomes easier to stay consistent.
Football has helped me build friendships, improve my stamina, and even made me more disciplined. It teaches me teamwork, patience, and how to keep pushing even when I’m tired. All those lessons, I carry them into other parts of my life.
So yes, exercise is not just a hobby for me. It’s a lifestyle. And I hope that reading this will encourage someone out there to pick up a ball, tie their shoelace, and start moving. Your body will thank you later.
