War Has No Winners, Only Victims - My Thoughts on Rising Global Tensions
Assalamu Alaikum,
The current geopolitical tension between three major countries: America, Israel, and Iran is quite sad.
Without taking the side of any of these countries, here is what I want to say about the current war situation in the world.
I believe that what is happening right now is wrong because, no matter who attacked first, who attacked second, or who retaliated, at the end of the day it is the common civilians who pay the price for what is happening in the country.
I have read many Twitter threads and posts where people were not happy with the decision that Trump made.
Similarly, we also saw many people in several Gulf countries opposing what Iran did.
The fact that the situation has escalated so much is worrying. The president or leader of Iran is already dead, some people call him martyred, while others say he was killed.
I am not here to disrespect or support him, and I leave that choice to the readers themselves.
The only thing I know is that if things do not stop immediately, then very soon there is a high chance that other countries will participate in the war as well, either to support or oppose one of the countries. That is not good at all because it could lead to a World War III.
While World War I and World War II were extremely devastating and resulted in massive loss of life, World War III could have an even greater impact.
This is because many of the countries that might participate in such a war now possess nuclear weapons, and they could use them.
If that happens, a huge portion of the world’s population could be wiped out within just a few weeks.
In the past, wars used to last for years, but this time it might not be the same.
People might witness wars, casualties, and destruction ending in just a few weeks not because people are more moral now, but because countries have become far more powerful and destructive.
So I pray to the Almighty that in the blessed month of Ramadan, every country may live in peace.
May the people stay protected, may the children remain safe, may the civilians be protected, and may this war come to an end.
