Life’s Unexpected Turns

Ever since I joined Hive blockchain, I have participated in writing so many prompts from various communities. Out of all these topics, one that has repeated itself the most is “What do you do for a living.” I have blogged about this topic countless times. This morning, I woke up on the nice side of the bed. My veins were filled with energy and my blood was pumping hot, ready to tackle anything. I was in the mood- the perfect mood to write. After exploring Hive communities, I remembered that the India United Community just released the weekly prompt. So, I headed over to the community to check it out. I always enjoy writing their prompts, but this time, when I saw the topic, my mood shifted from Yay to nay.

“What do you do for a living?” This topic again? I don’t want to give the impression that this topic is not interesting, but my point is that I have blogged about it countless times. I have become really tired of seeing this topic resurface in different communities. However, because I didn't want to miss this week’s prompt, I thought about what to do instead. After a few minutes, I tweaked the topic a bit and came up with something better. Instead of writing about what I do for a living, I decided to write about the career I wish I had- the one that life had other plans for.

LIFE, THORNS, AND THE UNEXPECTED. TWIST AND THORNS OF OUR JOURNEY.

Life is “interestingly interesting.” Life is sweet like honey, but it can also be sour. The concept of life has to be the most complex and complicated thing ever. Through my experiences, one thing I have come to understand is that not everything goes as planned in this imperfect world. The most bitter part is that you cannot always get what you want, and no matter what you do, life will always be a step ahead or even two steps if you're not careful. As humans, we want the best things for ourselves. If we were given pencils and paper to draw out how we want our lives to be, I’m pretty sure we’d come up with the most perfect images. Unfortunately, not everything go as planned.

THE PATH NOT TAKEN

Here I am, sitting on my couch and thinking about the journey that has brought me to where I am today. Once, I had a dream. Growing up, I was fascinated by the world of medicine. I adored and looked up to my mom. I loved everything about her profession. Her white uniform commanded respect. And every time she wore her uniform to work, everyone on the street would always her. Every day, my mom would come home and tell us about her workplace/- how many patients she attended to and how they were always happy to see her. It was nice. I liked it and wanted to achieve that too.

When I got to high school, I had just one goal- to follow in my mom's footsteps and become a medical doctor. So, I started on that journey. When I got to my 3rd year, we took an exam that would determine whether we would be in the art department or science department. I passed the exam easily and got into the science department. I spent my first year there, but in the second year, I started to lose interest. Yes, I lost interest and I switched to the art department. I did well in the term exams, but I just was not feeling it, and so I left. The dream ended there, and I started another one.

Life had other plans. Although I wish I had taken that route, I'm proud of the person I have become. This is my entry to the India United weekly prompt. The topic is; What do you do for a living?
