A Different Kind Of Fresh Start

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” -Oprah Winfrey

Every year, people make New Year’s resolutions. At the start of the year, they say to themselves, “This year is my year. This year is the year things will change for me.” I’m certain there are people who have been saying this over the past five years and every year yields the same outcome; goals left unachieved and plans unchecked. And then towards the end of the year, they give up and say, “Next will be my year.”

Have you ever wondered why cases like this keep happening? Have you ever wondered how people turn out not to be able to achieve their goals by the end of the year despite their vows to make them happen?

It might not be because they didn’t take their goals seriously. They might have done so, but there are so many factors that could have contributed to their dreams dying. For starters, maybe their goals weren’t SMART to begin with or maybe they got distracted by something more important. Regardless, I strongly believe in the power of goal-setting. Making a resolution at the start of the year works like magic.

I don’t know how it works for other people, but for me, the first day of the year is always the best time to draft my resolutions. I’m always hyped, and my energy is always high at the time. I believe that setting goals at the start of the year gives me direction. This has worked for me many times and it worked especially well last year. I was able to double my Hive Power because I wrote down my resolutions and followed them strictly. Brick by brick, I built my Hive Power. Not only that, but also my consistency improved. I wrote about 380 posts last year which I find very impressive. Basically, everything skyrocketed because I stuck to my resolutions.

Interestingly… or not, this year feels different. For someone who knows the importance of setting goals and the dangers of not, I am not bothered about making new year resolutions. This year, I just want to handle things the way they come my way. I know this is not the right approach. I understand that things would go much better if I decided to draft out my resolutions, but for some reasons, I am not interested in that and I am not bothered about it.

I just hope that whatever endeavor I get into this year will not be beyond my ability.
