I am sure everyone knows and must have at some point played the classic game of rock paper scissors.

In the classic game, 3 gestures are used.

1. Rock - A closed fist
2. Paper - A flat hand and
3. Scissors - A fist with the index finger and middle finger extended, forming a V

How to play:

• Each player chooses a gesture.
• Players reveal their gestures at the same time.
• The winner is the player who defeats the others.
• If there's a tie, the process repeats until someone wins.

Rules to decide the winner:

• Rock beats scissors because a rock is strong enough to break scissors.
• Paper beats rock because paper wraps around the rock to shut it down.
• Scissors beat paper because scissors can cut through paper.

It has always been fun to play the game, especially in times to decide who will do the chores :-)
I remember playing the game. Few wins and loses :-)

The game is not just played by kids, but adults also play them.

But, that's not it, have you heard the expanded version of the game, invented by Sam Kass and Karen Bryla and popularized by the TV show The Big Bang Theory.

Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock

Two additional hand signs were introduced to the classic game.

• Lizard - Resembling a hand puppet and
• Spock - The Vulcan Salute.

The expanded rules:

This get a little geeky,

• Scissors cut paper
• Paper covers rock
• Rock crushes lizard
• Lizard poisons Spock
• Spock smashes scissors
• Scissors decapitate lizard
• Lizard eats paper
• Paper disproves Spock
• Spock vaporizes rock
• Rock breaks scissors

I haven't played this version of the game.

I guess, in real life, only geeks / star trek fans play this version. I may be wrong though :-)

Funny though, most of them tend to pick the spock gesture. Even though paper beats it.
