MY SIMPLE SAVING SYSTEM

Right now, I feel really overwhelmed by how my life is going, but then, interestingly, I’m enjoying every bit of it—just that I’m tired. Life has been not so easy, but at the same time, it has been easy. Ever since I decided to accept the fact that I’m not a better driver of my life, things have changed drastically. Well, all of that is by the way. For this post, I’m going to be giving my response to the IU contest in the community on HOW DO YOU SAVE MONEY?

When it comes to saving, I will say I’m more than average at saving. I just most times find it hard to keep my savings when I know there is someone who needs it. Well, that was then. Now, I understand that money works with a system and if we ignore that, we will only end up chasing money instead of money chasing us. I like to treat money in a way that makes it know that if I don’t have it, I’ll still do what I need to do regardless. All I need is the determination to do what I need to do. So, when it comes to saving money now, I take it seriously because it’s also a way of me staying on the safe side.

As for the reason why I take saving money seriously now, that’s because I got to realize that it is part of the system of making money. Someone once used the illustration of a fruit to explain this concept. He said, if someone got any fruit with the mind of planting the seed and producing more with some years, they won’t eat the seed of that fruit even when it is very much edible. They discipline themselves so much to keep that seed because they know that in a long term, they will be happy with that choice they have made. So saving money is paramount because it helps us plant and prepare for harvest.

When we don’t save, we are like someone who didn’t plant anything but is expecting to harvest something when it’s time for harvest. Ever since I heard of that illustration, my perspective on saving money changed. Now, I hold it in high regard. I do have a couple of ways I try to save, but the major one is saving something daily and weekly. It’s nothing much, but I try to be really consistent with it. At first when I started, I had little or no plans for the money, but not anymore.

Over the past few years of saving, I have been able to use that money on things that I would have really struggled with if I had ignored the importance of saving. My plans for this year are to continue saving for the whole of this year by the grace of God and see just how much I can accumulate for the whole year. I plan to use the money I’m saving for the first quarter of the year for some things for myself and also for my final year project in school.
