When Money Talks, I Sit and Listen

Though I did a little bit of economics back then in secondary school, where I learned about management, the real management of income came from real life after I witnessed and saw how people discussed paying school fees for their kids, buying food for the house and doing some upkeep. After I started making money on my own, I got to know that it goes beyond having cash because at times, money can determine our emotions, it can give us hope or bring fear and it can also determine our survival.

So over time, I have learned to respect how much I make, no matter how small it is, because the way I earn is also how I plan. Because as soon as I get the money, I already knows how I will divide it because everything I do is with a budget. Small enjoyment, some for savings, some for necessary things because if I put everything up for enjoyment, then something terrible that I do not like to do might happen after.

Because I could remember when I was in school, I do not have any savings; the way the money comes is the same way I lavish it and before the month ends, I will be looking up to God for help. So I had to wise up and I started planning out how to spend according to what I need.

In my country, all these emergency issues are very paramount. A call from an old classmate, a street brother or family to help. So I have learned to start having some little little savings because I do have peace with that. And one thing that has really helped me out is that I have stopped comparing myself to the social media lifestyle because behind the closed doors, they might be living in debt just to show off.

So, like I said In one of my previous posts, when it comes to budgeting it does not mean that I am stingy or something. But I already have plans because I still give a helping hand where I can afford to, but everything I do is on plans.

So, it is not about lavishly spending because when we speak to money, it listens. When you control it, the future is safe. And if I am being honest, this has been really helpful for me so far.
