The Woman Who Carried My Dreams on Her Back

Not all heroes wear capes, and any time I feel like refreshing and motivating myself, my mind usually goes straight to mum. And in a situation where everything around can feel like a ton of loads, where there is always an unpredictable hike in the prices of fuel, where something like foods feels like a luxury, my mom is always there like a pillar that refuses to collapse.

I could remember vividly those early mornings that she would wake up very early in the morning to prepare food for us to take to school before setting off for her work. She is not the richest of all women, but she is always there for me and my siblings. There were days that even when the food she prepared seemed not to be enough, she will find another alternative but make sure we ate first. Then I usually think it was something normal, but as time passed by, when I looked back, I realized that it was a sacrifice of love and care hidden in every meal she prepared and all she did.

The strength she gave was not the loudest. She did not stand on any popular stage and be given a badge of honor or recognition. But through her strength, she demonstrated persistence effortlessly. She always had faith and all those mighty prayers both day and night and even when no one was watching.

From her way of life, I got to know that having a true inspiration does not necessarily come from reading motivational books or looking up to big, big names but from those honest people I surround myself with, the deep love they show, and the spirit of always taking care of one's children and not giving up.

And anytime I am feeling down or lost, the resilience she demonstrated whenever I remember always keeps me moving. If she is able to sustain her burden with so much grace, then I can say that there is nothing stopping me from facing my fears with courage.
