Navigating the hive world

(edited)

My journey on hive has been quite interesting, filled with ups and downs. There are moments I'm super active in this part of the world, publishing as often as possible, trying to meet up with my goals and expectations. While sometimes I felt like giving up was an only option. But then I've come to realize that only people with shallow minds give up easily. I believe in the future of hive and I'm staying put.

Last year November was my second year on hive and for this period, one thing for sure is that hive will test your patience. If you want it as soon as possible, then this is not the right place for you. My patience has been tested so many times but here I am still pushing. There are days one experience writers block. Little or no inspiration coming forth no matter how much research you do about that particular prompt, other days you just keep writing with unending ideas.

My very first experience here, or should I say the very first thing I learned here was patience. Hive taught me patience because I clearly remember how I made my very first 10 HBD in three months. 😂 Yeah! You heard right. Truth I wasn't publishing consistently but I was determined to find my way around. Many would have left but I knew it was just a matter of time even when there were no results to show for it. I'm not where I want to be, but I've moved beyond where I used to be.

First and most useful tips I've learned on hive which is the number one thing every newbie should know is to have a smart goal. Goals are not goals if they are smart and what I mean by smart is... it has to be specific, measurable, attainable, reliable and time-bound. A smart goal will push you to keep going even when the going is tough so for every new hivers that's still navigating their way here, set smart goals for yourself and work with it. Funny enough how both the old hivers still set goals for themselves including me.

The second tip is to know hive guidelines and markdown. I think knowing the hive guidelines should be the first thing every newbie should know to avoid making mistakes before they even get started. And just like every other platform has lay down rules so do hive. one of which is no AI related content or plagiarism. AI content is highly prohibited and any one caught by the hive police also known as hive watchers will face due penalty.
Lastly, is understanding tags, tokens, and tipping, and so many other things newbies need to know. These were only but a few tips that helped me navigate my way here which I believe will help new dedicated hivers.
