The Joy of Coming Together With My Siblings During Festive Holidays

I love this kind of happiness that money cannot buy, and for me, it is the happiness of meeting my siblings again during festive holiday. No matter how busy life becomes, no matter how far we travel or how long we stay apart, festive seasons always have a way of bringing us back together. When I see my brothers and sisters in one place again, my heart just feels full of experience, like something missing has finally returned.

Growing up, in Nigeria, festive holidays like Christmas was always special. Everybody will start planning weeks before. My parents will talk about who is coming home, what food we will cook, and how the house must be clean. In India too, I see the same spirit during festivals like Diwali or Holi, where family comes from far and near just to be together. Different culture, different food, but the same feeling of love and togetherness.

When my siblings and I meet again, there are lot old memories. Things we fought about as kids now sound funny. We talk about how we used to share food, clothes, and even punishment. Sometimes we argue small, because that is normal in every family, but those little quarrels don’t last. What matters is that we are together again, sitting in one room, eating on the dinning set again, and telling stories late into the night.

One thing I really love is how festive food brings us closer. In Nigeria, rice, meat, chicken, and jollof will be plenty. In India, I hear about sweets, spicy dishes, and special meals prepared only for festival time. Everybody eats too much and later complain about stomach pain, but still go back for more. That alone brings joy and laughter.

Festive holiday also reminds me how important family is. Life outside is hard, people disappoint you, work stress you, and sometimes you feel lonely. But when you come home and see your siblings, you remember you are not alone in this world, it eases work and make you feel renewed. My parents always taught us that family is our first support, and no matter where life takes us, we must always find our way back home.

Even when the holiday ends and everyone goes their separate ways again, the happiness remains in the heart. The memories of making it together, the laughter, the love they stay with you. Truly, meeting my siblings during festive holidays is one of the purest joys of my life.
