It's been a long journey, travelling through the smooth as well as the rough edges of hive. I've seen a whole lot on this web3 platform... enough to write an endless novel about it, But I guess if I were to write, my story wouldn't end.
A concept that's been encrypted in the shallow depth of my fragile mind was the very first challenge I participated in the zapfic 50 word challenge. I was a newbie here on hive and well, I came across the freewriters community and decided to give it a try. I mean, I loved the fact that there weren't much rules. Just write whatever inspiration that is lurking in the corners of your mind and display it to the eyes of the public. In the process of doing so, i came across the challenge where you write a short story in not more than 50 words! I was like: damn! Are you sure you're going to emerge as a runner up?
For a moment I thought about how I was going to face hundreds of writers and come out as a runner up. What were the chances that amongst the best, I would emerge with a position, even if it were second or third. I mean, the chances were really slim but then I gave it a try, after all, trying doesn't kill.
Well, I woke on a certain morning, the sun was still hidden behind the dark clouds. I turned to the side of my bed, picked my phone up from a stool which laid right beside me, I scrolled to my "PeakD" app and opened it only to see a notification. I checked it out. To my amazement I wasn't a runner up, I was the damn winner!
The rewards weren't bad, though not much but come on, who cares when you just realized you beat the best of writers who participated in the same contest you did. My confidence level, my enthusiasm and my zeal increased to the highest maximum. I felt happy as though I had been given a million-dollar contract but I guess sometimes what makes us happy isn't the money or rewards; sometimes... it's the little things that matter, the things most people tend to overlook.
Here's a screenshot of the story I wrote for the challenge:
Well, it's been a long ride and asides the contest above, I did experience the power of consistency in. If there's something hive taught me: Consistency is the key to success! I discovered that whatever you set your mind to achieve can be attained if only we were consistent and diligent.
It's kind of funny how I endured writing in hive while keeping up with medical school. In my ephemeral existence in life, I haven't really double tasked or should I say I found it somewhat difficult? but well, here I am today, triple tasking — that's if there's something like that of course.
An experience is enough to bring out the best in you and yeah, I'd say that was a confidence booster for someone who was new to this amazing web3 platform — hive.
