The saying 'Does money really change people, or does wealth simply reveal who they were? " is a multifaceted, powerful proverb that confirms that money can provide influence, power, connection, and change people within minutes.

There was this man who was always around the community with people. Suddenly, he developed an interest in politics, joined the ruling party, and won the councillor seat in our area. He changed overnight, started distancing himself from the people who were once his friends, and uses tinted luxury cars. Worse still, when you go to his house, he will send his aides to ask you to come back again. You will continue going until you are tired.

This means the man wasn't who he was pretending to be in society before the money and fame came. The money just revealed his true character and personality. The money was supposed to give him more access to patriotic and charitable work, impacting and supporting those who helped him when he was a nobody in society.
On the other hand, financial bankruptcy may turn someone into a religious person. They would start pretending to be good people until the situation turns around.

I believe that one's true character and personality, when they have wealth, especially in developing countries, doesn't look good because of the poverty and underdevelopment seen there. This is not to say that there are no good, wealthy individuals in the developing countries. No, they are few compared to the developed countries, where there are established structures that hold people accountable for their deeds. So, the few who are wealthy in the developing countries see it as an advantage. They become arrogant and unreachable when the money comes and tend to use it wrongly.

Enjoying Wealth With Friends

In conclusion, money is a two-edged sword. It can make or mar individuals. It can make one a better person in the family and society or make people bite the fingers that fed them. It can make people better beyond their personality or expose their bad characters and personalities.
