When I saw the title, I shuddered and was taken aback. This is because I do not frequently watch films but documentaries. So, I had to flip through my memory to recall some of the movies that impacted me. Among those films is my favorite “ Dharam Veer’ an Indian film. It’s my long-time movie.

I have watched this film several times because of the lessons I have learned from it, which encompass emotional intelligence, strategy, control, and the fight against prophecy through human understanding.

Satpal in the film gets emotionally distressed when he learnt through prophecy that his eldest sister's nephew will kill him one day. That revelation kept him strategising to prevent the prophecy, and because of his control and versatility in that kingdom, he had to separate his eldest sister's twins to stop the prophecy and nullify it. While one was taken far away from the royal family, the other one was allowed to grow in the royal palace. They all grew up in their different territories, with one not knowing that he belonged to the royal family.

However, as proposed and meant to be established by destiny, the boys, while growing up, somehow, got reconnected in adulthood, not knowing that they were more than brothers, twins for that matter.

On the other hand, the quest for Satpal to prevent the prophecy from coming true kept him on his toes. He made many decisions that caused serious chaos in the royal family and destroyed the unity and peace of the family. AS events kept unfolding in that chaos, Satpal was murdered by his eldest sister's son, his nephew, fulfilling the prophecy. It was not an orchestrated act by his nephew, but from my understanding, it seems it is a mistake that was backed up by prophecy and destiny.

The film exhumes emotional intelligence, support, and selflessness. How a leader can impact his subjects by protecting them from power-drunk leaders, supporting good intentions, and providing leadership by example. Protecting the helpless and ensuring safety for his subjects endeared him to all in the royal village.

But because his destiny had been determined, he was murdered by his nephew. His death created a vacuum in the village, sending a strong signal that whatever we do in life, destiny and fate have a great role in our lives.
