At times, people ask this and get it twisted, but today I'll give my response base on my experience
From my own experience, I can say that jealousy can be both love and insecurity but personally, I believe that a little jealousy is healthy in a relationship.
You cannot tell me that you love somebody deeply and you will never feel jealous when that person is getting too close to someone of the opposite gender or what so
At least, you will feel something, even our God is a jealous God. So, I don't see jealousy as something completely bad, the main thing is how you handle that jealousy.
For me, jealousy becomes a problem when you allow it to turn into insecurity, I mean how you tend to handle it
I remember when I was dating this guy who was the kind of person girls always liked being around, anywhere you see him, girls will always around him, and honestly, at first, I was jealous.
I will be like teasing him, ah, why are you always so close to girls? 😂
He will explained to me that in this life, women sometimes tend to help guys faster, especially in certain situations and I will always listen to him and understand what he meant. Because he explained himself, I didn't allow my jealousy to grow into something else.
There's a but
There were these two girls who were his best of friends, and their friendship was not really normal to me. They were extremely close, at first I didn't want to overthink it because they were cool
But at a point, I needed to over think it cause these girls could sleep at his place, hug each other in ways that made me uncomfortable and even kiss each other while cuddling themselves.
At that point, I started asking myself questions, what if they are more than best friends?
What if I'm actually the side chick?
What if there is something going on that I don't know about?
That was when I realized that my jealousy was slowly becoming insecurity.
Insecurity is when you start doubting everything your partner does because you are too afraid of losing them or afraid that someone else is taking your place.
You start checking their phone, keeping tabs on their chats, monitoring their movements, going through their chats and questioning almost everything they tell you.
At that point, it is no longer just jealousy, it is insecurity and love doesn't work with insecurity.
I have felt jealous before, and I don't think there is anything wrong with admitting it. For example, if my partner is on a two- or three-hours call with a girl I don't know, I might ask, “Pappi, who were you talking to for that long?” that was kinda taking your full attention, I would say it in a funny and an approachable way 😂
He will tell me, she is an old friend, she just called and we were catching up, and gives me a proper explanation, then that's it. My mind is calm again.
Sometimes, that little jealousy can even be funny and cute, you can be standing very close to another person and your partner will jokingly say, “So you people are now this close?” 😂 You laugh about it, but somewhere inside, you know there is a little jealousy because they care.
So, is jealousy love or insecurity? I think it can be either one.
Jealousy comes from love.
But when you don't handle it properly, it can grow into insecurity.
The best way to handle it is to ask questions, communicate and allowing your partner to explain.
And jealousy is not the real problem, how you handle it, is what matters.
