A Year End Celebration In The Animal Shelter

Hello everybody this December instead of having a usual year-end party with games and food, my second year college daughter and her classmates chose a different way to celebrate it. Their school gave them a choice. They could help kids or animals, they decided to visit an animal shelter. It was a small decision, but it turned into a meaningful experience for all of them.

Before the visit, each student contributed what they could. Some brought dog and cat food, while others shared small amounts to help the shelter. There was no pressure to give much. What mattered was that everyone joined and cared. My daughter was excited and curious because it was her first time visiting an animal shelter. I was worried that she'll be scratch by the animals. So I told her to be very careful.

When they arrived, they were welcomed by the volunteers. The shelter had many dogs, each with different stories. Some were playful and energetic, while others were quiet and shy. The volunteers explained how the animals were rescued and how they are cared for every day. The children listened closely and showed respect.

One of the highlights of the visit was feeding time. The kids helped prepare the bowls and watched the dogs eat happily. They laughed, took photos, and gently petted the animals. My daughter told me she felt happy but also a little sad seeing animals without families. Still, she said it felt good to help, even in a simple way.

Aside from feeding, the students also spent time sitting with the dogs. Some dogs rested beside them, while others followed them around. The children learned that animals also need love, patience, and kindness, not just food.

After the visit, there was no loud party or fancy decorations, but the joy was real. The students shared stories, smiles, and lessons they will remember. As a parent, I am thankful that the school allowed the children to choose compassion over celebration.

This experience taught my daughter that helping does not always need money or big actions. Sometimes, giving time, care, and attention is already enough. It was a simple day, but one filled with heart and meaning.

Thank you for reading my post and have a wonderful day.

Yes the school has its creative mind to let their students experience this kind of gatherings instead of being happy for one day. Thank you for dropping by @rabino7515
