Fluffy Tori | A Visit to the Vet - Mandatory Pet Registration in Abu Dhabi
If you remember my last post, you know our that it has been so chaotic in our home. Fluffy’s nighttime calling continues, and the "wall-warrior" Dusty still occasionally comes over. And yes, Bruno Marsh (kids call him Mallow) officially became a new housemate.
And because Fluffy is still acting cray-cray, I started looking out for vet clinics where I can bring her for spaying. Then I found out that I have been missing out on the news. Apparently, there was an announcement by the Abu Dhabi Municipality that pets need to be registered by February 3, 2026. Like, whaaat?!!!!
Fluffy Goes to the Vet
I messaged one vet clinic through Whatsapp and they were very responsive. They answered my questions regarding their services and the rates, including my query regarding spaying, considering Fluffy's age.
We finally booked a visit a week after that initial conversation. This would be Fluffy's very first visit to the vet, and no, it is not cheap. The first time vaccination package is AED 300 ($81.52). This is not yet including the spaying procedure which they quoted at AED 400 ($108.70). Hence this post. I need to save $$$$ for the procedure.🤑 LOL.
I could imagine a lot of pet owners now flocking to the veterinary clinics in the city. And there are a lot of clinics, and a lot of pet owners. What a time to be a veterinary clinic owner in Abu Dhabi. Business is thriving. LOL.
We were a few minutes late to our appointment, but we did not wait for a long time before we were called. All the while, Madam Fluffy was very chill and quiet. Such a good girl.
A Model Patient
When the doctor started the check-up, she remained calm and dignified—a true Turkish Angora professional. No hissing, no scratching; just a lot of curious sniffing as the vet examined her.
By the end of the appointment, she was officially a "documented" cat with:
A Microchip: The core requirement for the new government registration.
Initial Vaccines and Deworming: To keep her healthy and safe.
The "Passport": She now has her own vaccination record book.
We are now just waiting for the clinic to call us to get started with the official registration to the government app. As pet owners, we cannot register the pets on our own, but the clinics need to do them for us.
The Countdown to Peace
While the visit was about health and paperwork, we also had "the talk" about her noisy habits. The plan is set: we return in two weeks for her spaying procedure. The vet said this would take about 4hours.
I cannot wait for the day when Fluffy will be free from her hormonal turmoil and all of us can go back to our old, quiet nightly routine.
Oh, wait! Danggg, we still have Bruno Marsh. He would later have to get documented, too.

it's great if you're lucky to find a good vet for your pet. So many vets are just business now, and there are so few really good pet docs..

Yes, that's true. It's a matter of finding the one that really matches with our pets. In fairness to this vet, he said, "She has ear mites," (got from the stray we recently adopted 😩). "Does she have ear drops?"
I almost expected him to prescribe new ear drops, but instead, he said to just continue with what we have. Coming to the clinic, I already prepared myself that I could end up paying more than what they initially quoted due to "add-ons", but they didn't, which was good. hehe.
