My market Friday: Getting my sewing materials

My #MarketFriday for this week is based on the things I was asked to buy for my training which is fashion design. Most of it are in twos and one will be given to me for my personal use while the rest will stay in the shop.

  1. Needle
  2. Thread

  4. Tape rule
  5. Machine oil
  6. Office pin
  7. Shuttle
  8. Riller

  1. Needle (size 18)

For sewing heavy fabrics, thick fabrics, thick leather, it is inserted in the machine and much more faster than hand needle

2.Hand needle

Hand sewing needles are used for sewing with hands, the numbers are usually written on it and it serves different purposes. The hand sewing needles below is no.1. They have a sharp pointed tip, they are large and long, it is for threading pieces of clothes together, you can also use it to tack clothes, tack designs or trimmings.

Thread is used to join already cut clothes using a sewing machine, this provides seams with adequate length as desired.

Scissors is used for cutting clothes or paper patterns

This is used for taking measurement of a customer or to measure on clothes.

6.Machine oil

Machine oil helps to reduce friction in machines and helps the parts of the machine work smoothly and perfectly. It also reduces hardness. Anytime sewing machine is not working properly the first thing the boss asks of is if there is oil inside.

7.Office pin

This is use to hold fabrics together before sewing

  1. Shuttle

This is where the riller is being placed and it helps to hold it firm in the sewing machine so that it will not fall off.

    Riller is where the thread is rolled into for sewing and it is put inside the shuttle

Am just starting, these are the requirements for learning, the boss will collect some and give me the rest like scissors and thread so I can be using it to practice at home. I will still need to get my own sewing machine. With time I will be able to sew on my own. I signed one year.
