Old trends, new price tag.

What's wrong with the fashion and beauty industry? How did we get to the point where we pick up old-fashioned trends, give them different names, and raise their prices? How did we get to a point where higher prices meant better quality of goods and services? How??

As much as I love how innovative and creative the fashion and beauty industry is, at this point, it needs to cut us some slack.
The prices of these products keep increasing, and it is so annoying that we keep paying ridiculous amounts for old trends and products that have been in existence for years.

I understand that these trends in these industries are ever-changing; we get used to a particular trend and they change in no time, and that's perfectly fine, but bringing them back and calling them fancy names in a bid to make them expensive is wickedness.

This post was triggered by my experience at a salon today.
I decided to go fix one of my weaves on my hair today, I haven't done that in a while and I needed the change of hairstyle. I got there, and the lady called a ridiculous amount for the hairstyle. She kept saying because it's a sew-in, she had to do this, do that and a bunch of other stuff, but guys guess what? Everything she mentioned were the basic things hairstylists do for such a hairstyle. Nothing new, just a fancy name with fancy procedure and a ridiculous price.

These rebranded styles are sold to a new audience, same product but this time with a different language and a marketing strategy, making it look more desirable while it's the same thing from the past.

It’s so sad to see past trends being sold to us rather than us basking in the euphoria of what we once had. We are not only ripped off but manipulated into believing these trends and products are different from the ones we had years ago.

In conclusion, innovation is great, but when you keep ripping people off all in the name of "rebranding" then it’s questionable and these industries need to do better. By ndustries I don’t mean only fashion and beauty industries, I’m referring to all the industries in general.
