Worth Learning a Musical Instrument

(edited)

So, I found myself thinking, as I read through the prompt, “Can there be music without instruments?” Can there be or there won't be? My input or position could be inconsequential owing to the fact that I'm not an expert in this. Nevertheless, one way or another, the necessity of instruments in the art of music can never be ignored, nor excused.

Yes, we all know there's acapella music, and rightly, many are doing well in that niche, if I could say. One could still find that there's a widespread need and employment of musical instruments in making music. Many genres require a high and explosive use of instruments. You can't have rock music without instruments, classical nor country music or any other genre.

Nonetheless, the conversation in this post doesn't delve into the necessity of instruments in music; to say whether it's a requirement or need or not. The conversation here speaks on the benefits, the advantages, and the value of learning a musical instrument or instruments. Undeniably, there are values and great benefits attached to learning an instrument. Not to say it's a must though.

There are several people; especially ladies, that I know who are into music, and I'll say that they don't or maybe can't play any instrument. However, when they sing, it's a wonder to behold. But then, there could be more right? And I believe that's the advantage the ability to play a musical instrument presents. There could be that edge, that distinctive benefit that this ability adds to the musical person.

The knowledge and ability to play a musical instrument aid the individual to sing rightly and more wonderfully. Every instrument operates on a sort of solfas. With that comes more knowledge of the song and an advantage to the player. I consider that instruments help the individual have an in-depth understanding and connection with the music. Such a person is more likely to know the song better.

Learning a musical instrument could be useful to an individual who intends to make unique covers of others’ songs. Say you're a bass guitar player, a trumpet player, a keyboard player, a drum player, or whatever musical instrument, and you make covers of songs with any of these instruments. It could make it stand out, add a different and unique feel than the conventional covers of perhaps just singing. That's a benefit of learning an instrument.

The experience of the joy and beauty of music to the fullest could be achieved when one has learned one or two musical instruments. You might have seen an instrument player just lost and drunk in the beauty of what is happening during a music session; be it performance, ministration, or rehearsal. I've seen it. And one could tell that there's a different and deeper feeling to what this person is experiencing. You could see such a person jumping and just feeling it altogether.

Well, that's the beauty and power of good music, and the knowledge of the instrument put together. It gives an in-depth understanding of music and songs in particular. I also consider that one who has learned to play a musical instrument or instruments over time has a higher chance to even become a producer. As mentioned, it helps give an in-depth understanding of the art of music. Hence, bringing up something new on sounds and all wouldn't be much of a problem. Of course, I've seen that.

P.S I don't play the euphonium, chuckles.
