🎵 The Royal Melody: From Ancient Myanmar Harps to Rising Star Stages 🎸
မြန်မာ့ယဉ်ကျေးမှုမှာ "စောင်း" (Saung Gauk) ဟာ အနုပညာရသ အပြည့်ဝဆုံးနဲ့ ဂုဏ်အရှိဆုံး တူရိယာတစ်ခု ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ မြန်မာ့စောင်းရဲ့ သမိုင်းကြောင်းဟာ ပျူခေတ် (အေဒီ ၉ ရာစု) ကတည်းက အမြစ်တွယ်ခဲ့တာဖြစ်ပြီး ပုဂံခေတ် အာနန္ဒာဘုရား နံရံဆေးရေးပန်းချီတွေမှာလည်း စောင်းတီးနေတဲ့ ပုံရိပ်တွေကို သက်သေအဖြစ် တွေ့နိုင်ပါတယ်။ ရှေးမြန်မာဘုရင်တွေ လက်ထက်မှာတော့ စောင်းဟာ နန်းတွင်းအဖိုးတန် တူရိယာဖြစ်ပြီး ဘုရင်၊ မိဖုရားနဲ့ မှူးမတ်တွေ ကိုယ်တိုင် မြတ်နိုးစွာ တီးခတ်ခဲ့ကြတာပါ။
In Myanmar culture, the "Saung Gauk" (arched harp) is one of the most artistic and prestigious instruments. Its history roots back to the Pyu period (9th century AD), and evidence of its existence can be seen in the murals of the Ananda Temple from the Bagan era. During the reigns of ancient Myanmar kings, the Saung was a prized court instrument, cherished and played by kings, queens, and ministers alike.
စောင်းဟာ ခေတ်အဆက်ဆက်မှာ ပုံသဏ္ဍာန် အနည်းငယ် ပြောင်းလဲခဲ့ပေမဲ့ သူ့ရဲ့ အခြေခံ အလှတရားကတော့ မပျက်စီးခဲ့ပါဘူး။ ရှေးဦးပိုင်းမှာ ကြိုး ၃ ချောင်းသာ ရှိခဲ့ပေမဲ့ ကုန်းဘောင်ခေတ်မှာ မြဝတီမင်းကြီးဦးစက ကြိုး ၁၃ ချောင်းအထိ တိုးမြှင့် တီထွင်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ အဲဒီနောက်မှာတော့ ဆရာငြိမ်းက ၁၄ ချောင်း၊ ဒုတိယကမ္ဘာစစ်အတွင်းမှာတော့ အလင်္ကာကျော်စွာ ဦးဘသန်းက ၁၆ ချောင်းအထိ တိုးမြှင့်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဒီလို ခေတ်အဆက်ဆက် လက်ဆင့်ကမ်း ထိန်းသိမ်းလာမှုကြောင့် စောင်းဟာ ဒီနေ့ခေတ်အထိ မြန်မာ့အမျိုးသား တူရိယာအဖြစ် ဝင့်ထည်စွာ တည်ရှိနေတာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
The Saung has undergone minor structural changes over the eras, yet its core aesthetic remains intact. Initially featuring only three strings, it was upgraded to 13 strings by Minister Myawaddy Mingyi U Sa during the Konbaung period. Later, Saya Nyein added a 14th string, and during WWII, Alanka Kyaw Zwa U Ba Than expanded it to 16 strings. Thanks to this continuous preservation across generations, the Saung stands proudly today as Myanmar's national musical instrument.

In the Rising Star game that we play, the closest relative to the Myanmar Saung is the Orchestral Harp. While the Myanmar harp is designed horizontally, the Western harp is vertical—that's the primary structural difference. When using Harp cards to complete Music Missions in the game, it often reminds me of the soothing, graceful melodies of our traditional Myanmar Saung.

As I build my musical career within Rising Star, I believe it's essential not to forget or undervalue our real-world traditional musical heritage. Instruments like the Myanmar Saung, which have stood the test of time, are artistic legacies we should be proud of. Whether in a game or in reality, the power of music will always continue to inspire and excite us.
