Autumn moods and a concrete church

Today, I had to pick up my wife at the Wotruba church, which was designed by the famous sculptor Fritz Wotruba. The planing and architecture was done by Fritz Mayr. The church is situated in the 23rd district of Vienna and it is quite a long drive to get up that hill.
Th e church is built out of 152 concrete blocks piled on top of each other without any system with no apparent symmetry. It took a long time to fight the resistance and actually build the church in 1976. The original plans where made 1964.

Unfortunately I couldn't go inside so I wandered around the church and also soaked in some of the warm November sun. It was a really nice day and the view from the church over Vienna also looked amazing.
I made a pin on https://worldmappin.com/, so you can check it out there, too.

A small peek inside. The building has astoundingly small windows.

I also took a walk to the Sterngarten (Star Garden) which looks like a giant solar clock. Unfortunately there was some construction work going on so I could not take a closer look.

After doing some online research I found out that this is an open planetarium which after a long period of use has to be renovated.

If you want to find out more about the Stonegarden you can go to this website. https://web.astroverein.at/freiluftplanetarium-wien
I will definitely go back there to have some astrophotography done as soon as it opens again.

The view from the planetarium with Vienna in our back.

I also experimented with a vintage 100-300mm Tokina lens. I tested the macro feature, but unfortunately, it is super hard to hit the focus with this lens. Hence, almost all the leaves are out of focus.

I got this lens from my father in law who used it on his Nikon F22, which he also gifted to us. I use a cheap K&F concept adapter to attach this analog lens to my digital camera.

The small metal ring has the exact (sometimes more sometimes less) distance to the sensor so the Nikon lenses work with it.

In the next few weeks, you will be seeing a lot of photography content from me, so I hope I can provide a nice and picturesque blog for you.

If you want to find out more about the Wotruba Church and its history you can find further information on the website https://www.georgenberg.at/unsere-kirche-0

Thanks as always for your support and kind words in the comments. Thank you for reading!

Die Kirche sieht ja krass aus. So richtig 60er, 70er Jahre. Erinnert mich etwas an Art Deco. Sehr interessant, die würde ich mir auch gern von innen anschauen.
