Glass Ball – a little trick for great shots - Part Two

Good morning dear Friends and Photography Lovers🙌📸

Today I'm continuing with the second part of the photos that were taken about a week ago. In short, to repeat today (but today I know whose post made me want to use a glass ball in photography again, because it hasn't been that long), after viewing the post by @travelshots and being amazed by his photos, I decided to take my ball out of the box where it had spent quite a bit of time and go into action with it.

A glass ball in photography offers just that — a different perspective, perfect symmetry, and a creative play of focus.

Due to its perfect shape and optical properties, the sphere depicts a scene turned upside down, creating a visually interesting effect. What is in the background becomes the focal point — literally drawing the viewer's eye.

So let's see what I have prepared for you today, dear friends.

There is something really special about looking through a glass ball at a familiar sight and suddenly experiencing it completely differently. It's as if the whole world is compressed into one crystal clear, rounded universe — upside down, perfectly framed and unexpectedly magical.

In the hand or on an interesting surface, the ball has an almost hypnotic effect. It draws the eye. It freezes time. People love to peer into it — and linger there for a few seconds longer.

This is exactly what makes good photographs: moments that last. A glass ball helps us see them differently, from a new perspective, often one that we would not have noticed without it. The ball is our ally in creating different stories. It is not just a prop, but a way of thinking: an incentive to look for beauty where we least expect it.

🔄 Don't be afraid to rotate the photo — sometimes the effect is even more powerful when you rotate the frame to make the ball look "normal".

In most photos, I use a shallow depth of field - I focus only on the sphere, and the background is blurred, so the content inside the sphere comes out even more.

I took the photos with a Nikon D750, 50mm lens, f/1.8, manual settings according to the situation. Post-processing in Photoshop, very minimal for color photos, and for black and white processing in Photoshop Action 1 and 3
