That is the subject for the Qurator photo contest this week is LINES. Well, you can go a couple of different ways with this subject. You can take ite literally by photograph lines, but also patterns or lines that guide the viewer’s eye into the frame.

I took a dive into my large photo-archive to see if I had some shots that I could send in for this round. And you might not be surprised: I had quite a few. That made it quite difficult to choose my favorite one. Probably not everyone will choose the same image as the best one in this series. I'm interested to know which one you like best.

I've chosen the following photo to be my submission for the Qurator's Photo Quest. Maybe you can't immediately see what it is, but it's a high-voltage transmission tower photographed from underneath.

I normally are more into nature photography, but sometimes I like to experiment a bit with architecture or other subjects.
I came across this transmission tower and photographed it from multiple angles. That is what makes a photographer I think. Photographers (even amateur ones like me) often make better photos because they take the time to see and experiment with different points of view so you don't get the default snapshots everyone takes.
I think I succeeded in this case. I really love the symmetry of the tower and how the lines draw you into the photo.

Here is another shot of those towers, but then from a distance. Another case of LINES. This was taken on an early morning when I was cycling to work. I really like the fog and how the towers seem to float. Since I already have submitted one of the photos in this series for the subject FOG, I'm not submitting this one for the contest.



I've taken this shot on the beach. Sometimes the wind can draw pretty cool patterns of lines in the sand. It can create a really nice wavy pattern.



Lines in photography can create depth and can be used to guide the eye of the viewer into the photo. The following photo is ab example of that. The lines in the picture lead you towards the end of the tunnel.



Nature is really good in creating lines and patterns. We could already see that in the photo from the beach, but this is another example of that. Can you tell what it is? It's solidified lava. The lines it formed look a bit like braids.
