The Qurator Photo Quest themes are often a great reason to dive into my large photo archive. When I saw this weeks theme: Farm Animals, I was quite sure I had some photographs that I could send in. And indeed, I found several. Here are a few examples from my collection that I like.
For the contest entry I'm submitting this entry. I took this photograph last year when my wife and I were enjoying a walk through the Dutch countryside. As we followed a path alongside a small canal, a group of curious cows walked towards us.
What I like most about this image is the combination of colors. The green grass, the blue sky, and the (mostly) black and white cows work very well together I think. I also enjoy the reflection of the cows in the water. For me this is a typical Dutch landscape; meadows, water and only the windmill is missing 😂

In this second shot, taken during a cold morning ride in the polder I like the repetition. The cows, all with a different pattern, are in a row, just like the trees in the background.
I also like the diagonal line in the clouds.

Just like the previous shot, this shot was taken during a bicycle ride. Some of the roads go through the farm land and incidentally you come across a cow that blocks the road. This one wasn't really impressed by me and moved out of the way very slowly. It seemed a bit muscular, so I decided to wait patiently for it to make way for me 😂

Apart from cows we also have a lot of sheep. Sheep are often used as natural grazers in nature reserves. The profession of shepherd is becoming more common again. Sheep are also frequently used in urban areas as natural lawnmowers.

Here's a photo of some sheep I took when I was commuting to work. It was at sunrise and the temperature was just below 0 degrees C. The grass was frosty and even the sheep had frost on their backs. Lucky for them, they have these thick furry coats 😀

I hope you enjoyed my blog. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I love the photos, they feel peaceful, I found the cow in the middle of the street hilarious, hehe, great!

It's not that fun when you encounter one in real life. I was a bit scared to pass her to be true...
@friendlymoose Hahaha, I can imagine. I only see her as beautiful in photos... they scare me too. Greetings.

No wonder why people out here associate Holland with cows!! But great images; you are really sensitive in finding the good shots!
Hello there 😄
Not here to race you this time, but I want to say thank you for the Hive Account Health Dashboard! 🥂
It's data I find useful, especially the comment/post ratio. Most likely with the snaps/threads and whatever they are called, it got better for some, but still, there are accounts that are waaaay below any acceptable limits in this regard.
Haha! We keep the race going 😉
You're welcome. Glad you find the dashboard useful!
I've excluded the short content containers (snaps, waves, threads....) from the comments since most of them are actually short posts, but technically comments on the platform. And most comments on snaps are not of that high quality to count them as engaging comments.
I've been using my own tool to adjust my voting habits.
Absolutely!!! 💪
Phew, this is good news, very good actually as it shows long content consumption.
We can say openly that a good amount is just 💩 😎
Look at this 😆
