When I go to work I go by bicycle most of the times. It's nice to start and end the day with a bicycle ride. Being outdoors, exercising and clearing your mind with the views.
Unfortunately we're heading towards the shorter days of the year, so it won't be long until I will ride in the dark both to as back from the office 🥲
That's why I'm enjoying the morning rides a bit extra. I'm cycling during the golden hour which results in a couple of nice shots.

Most of the route I drive on long stretched roads without many cars. A large part of the route is even without cars.
But the cycling paths in The Netherlands are often quite busy as well with commuters and kids going to school.
I don't often see an empty road as you see in the photo above.

The meadows and canals along the route often have a layer of mist hanging over them in the mornings. With the sun in the background it creates a peaceful and serene vibe.
Unfortunately it is not always sunny as you can see on the photo below. On days where there is much fog, I really miss the warmth of the sun. The scene is more gloomy and spooky. It is cool to see the cycling path disappear in the background.
You can see a lonely cyclist in the distance.

I'm enjoying it while it lasts. In two weeks we'll have Winter Time, so the clocks go back one hour. I'd better start looking for my bicycle lights...

Hello! I love those landscapes veiled in mist. You’ve captured some brilliant photos here. And yes, don’t forget to bring your lights.
Thanks! And I won't!
These are three excellent photos. I liked this one because of all the different elements that come together in the scene. It's very crisp too.
That one is my favorite too. I saw the image immediately when I cycled past it.
Mesmerizing! Golden hours are just heavenly hours.
Really love that shot over the canal and meadow. Autumn and all its vibes was always my favorite season. The smells, the air, the mist, the dampness, the colors. There was a lot of connection there.
I remember an old friend of mine (she was 80 when we met, I was 17, helping her walk inside the house as training part of her physical therapy) asking me an interesting string of questions. "Imagine you're walking on a path in the forest. What season is it?" Answer was autumn, of course. She interpreted that as me having a mature, somewhat melancholic character. Which is true, it's the melancholy in autumn that I like a lot.
A car-free road through misty meadows at golden hour is the kind of commute that makes the dark winter rides feel like a fair trade.
You have such a beautiful view every day on your way to and from the office. Even if you're cycling alone, you probably won't notice the time or distance because you'll be so busy enjoying the beautiful scenery. Cycling every day is such a great way to exercise while enjoying the views along the way. It's like hitting two birds with one stone!
It's a great way to start and end the working day indeed.
