A walk around the lake in the sun

The weather today is quite nice. There is a bit of wind, but it is sunny and warm and there is a blue sky with just a few clouds. A great day to make a #sublimesunday walk and take some pictures.

I decided to go for a walk around a nearby lake. It's a lake that has been artificially created many years ago. They used the sand for construction projects. They later turned lake into a recreational lake with some nice walking paths around it.

There is a broader path around the lake, but that can be crowded in the weekends. Many dog owners walk their dogs and there are also a lot of runner. That is why I usually choose take a smaller trail which runs a bit wider around the lake.

It has been raining quite a lot this spring and the last few weeks it is getting warmer and sunnier. This combination was very good for nature. You can tell this by the abundance of green around the lake. At one part of the trail I even had to go back because the nettles grew completely over the path. And since I walking in shorts I didn't want to get stung by the nettles.

Apart from the green there are also a lot of flowers. All over the place you can find this cow parsley. Some of them are even over 2 meters high.

A lot smaller are these buttercups. I also spotted loads of these. They form a sea of yellow on some spots along the trail.

There are even growing a some wild roses around the lake. They come in two colours. There are these pink ones and also white ones. It really smells lovely when you walk among these roses.

The hills around the lake are overgrown with wild flowers. You can spot a lot of red poppies and other species. These attract a lot of insects. Unfortunately I didn't see a lot of butterflies. There was probably too much wind for them today. I'll 'catch' them next time.

You can find these white flowers in several spots around the lake. They are always grouped together like here on the photo. They are so bright white. I learnt they are daisies. I only knew those small daisies that grew in the meadows, but these are much bigger (about 4-5 centimeter).

Most of the trail is in the sun, but on the other side of the lake you can walk in the shade of some trees.

At the end of the trail there is this wooden object. I really don't know what it is supposed to be or what is was. There wasn't a building as far as I know.

Thanks for joining me on my #sublimesunday walk.

What a nice walk. Those must be the real daisies that appear in photos and paintings. Here are also days here when, although there are many flowers, you don't see butterflies. They seem to have their own calendars and schedules.

Thank you!

That wood wall is certainly interesting. I wonder if some research could turn up what it was. Those long metal spikes in it may help, maybe some old dock or pier from a time when the water was higher?

Maybe I'll figure it out sometime 😀

Sure looks like a nice day and you did pick a trail less used by others.

It surely was. I always try to avoid the crowded trails.
