Our style is anything comfortable

I have heard much about how nonchalant engineering undergraduates are when it comes to dressing, it seems they pick anything their hands could reach and off they go to school, it seems it is a culture because I'm guilty now. In school you would easily know students from various faculties because of their dress code, I think for engineering their dress code is anything comfortable

I kept to wearing shirts every Monday to school, I don't know how it happened but I discovered that morning that I was out of shirt to wear, I have a lot of football jersey tops which was a good alternative but not for the first day of the week. I felt no guilt of wearing something casual on a official Monday morning, it is now a custom, I choose to wear anything that comes any day of the week to school.

Dr. Odeh, our course lecturer is a very strict person when it comes to dress code, though I have never seen him in class with his shirt and Tie, just his departmental T-shirt. He dislikes exposing dressings and face caps, and he sends out anyone who defaults that. I have been a victim to his conduct, I wasn't aware of this policy and I wore my T-shirt with my joggers, I was sent out from the entrance and I missed the quiz test he gives after each class.

After that lecture day I had to make a schedule of what I'll be wearing to attend his lectures so I won't miss out again. One interesting and compulsory thing he does every semester is that you have to put on your suit and tie for any of his tests or Exams you will write. It didn't look serious till his Exams day, he came in with his Suit and tie, he came scripted (-10marks) on every defaulter, even people that had their suit on without tie, he wrote on their paper.

As a minimalist I don't go for much, I go for what I can acquire but that doesn't mean we don't dress nicely. I don't spend much for clothes now, in a school week I could put on different jersey top from Tuesday to Fridays and a shirt on Monday. One hack I was able to use is, washing my clothes everyday or in every two day, so each day I get home I would wash my clothes which will give more options to what I'll wear.

The lecturer must be very serious to be able to give students scores because of dressing.

Nigerian lecturers are just incredible. But in a way, I kind of like the suit and tie look to the exam hall.
You look nice in the suit by the way.

Nicely written

I don't know, usually when you say you're a minimalist, other people think you have to dress like someone who has nothing, when in reality it's about being more aware of what we have and what we want.

Once a minimalist, always one.
I had never been chased out of Mr Odeh's class when I was offering his course. I guess I was of my best behavior.
I'm a minimalist too but I don't have any tracksuit. Maybe if I had, I would have worn it to his class one day , and be chased out😂

This made me laugh. Engineering really does have its own fashion culture. And Dr. Odeh sounds like he runs dress code bootcamp 😂 suit and tie for exams is wild.

😅 he doesn't joke with conduct. If he invigilates your exams, just focus on your work because if you're caught, you've certainly reached the end.😂
