MY EVOLVING MINIMALIST MANIFESTO

For me, a simple, minimalist life is more of a journey than just living trying to get to a destination. Everyday I wake up with new ideas on how to make my minimalist lifestyle more sustainable, more comfortable and more enticing. Over the years since I chose this path for myself, I have learnt so many things and over time that has improved how I see my minimalist life.

There are a few things I have added on this journey of getting the life I want as a minimalist and there are also some things that are no longer present to make it more worth it. And I believe there are more things to add and also let go of, hence I said a simple, minimalist life is a journey. A process that almost never ends until it all ends. There will always be room for improvement as I work towards achieving the best kind of life I want as a minimalist and I’m never going to hold myself back from making those improvements by being rigid with what I have known, what I know and what I’ll learn in the future.

The elements of my simple, minimalist life are;

Intentional living. Learning to become intentional as a minimalist is a must. You notice a gap and you work towards filling it not hoping that it fills itself on its own. You have a messy room, you don’t just sit and watch it complaining of how messy it is. Nah. You stand up and put things in order. That’s the beautiful part of my simple, minimalist life.

Giving. As a minimalist, I have learnt to cultivate the act of giving more. I’m slowly walking away from the hoarding part of me. Once I know I don’t need something anymore, I get intentional about looking for someone else who might be in need of it and let them have it. Or, if it isn’t something that I can give out, I make sure to throw it out in a way that if someone else needs it they can have it. But hoarding them in my room, that has changed a lot thanks to this new spirit of giving.

Mental decluttering. As a minimalist, constant mental decluttering is necessary for my over all health and that’s one thing I have recently been trying to cultivate. It hasn’t been easy but it’s working out little by little. I’m learning to let go and forgive as much as I can rather than holding on to things that only pulls me back.

What is absent?

Rigidity is absent. Gone are the times when I keep holding on to what I have known even when I see something better than that. Once I see a need for change, I welcome it. It is always hard but I don’t discard the need for it. Instead, I try to work on myself and get the best.

Hate is completely absent. No matter how much things don’t sit well with me these days, I have learnt to give it a chance to prove itself. I don’t just go around hating on things and even people for no just reason. It’s draining and limiting.

Thank you for reading through. 💜

This is like you are talking to me because these are elements that have kept me going as a minimalist, especially being intentional and giving more. I just don't like seeing things much or messy around me, and so, I throw away or give out to reduce the load around me. Simplicity is the key.

Giving can be a rewarding experience that adds to where it's needed and subtracted from where it's no longer needed. I tend to see it more as an equation sort of thing but it does also come with this sense of ease or lack of burden when the things that are not needed a properly sorted out and given way. Being a minimalist is indeed a journey, always new discoveries to make that elevates the practice :)
