A good time to say “bye 👋”

At times, it doesn’t always come as easily as thought. There are times when we think about certain things, such as buying a new pressing iron and discarding the old one that has been malfunctioning over time. Or it’s just about replacing the sofa with new ones, or just readjusting the leather coverings.

Maybe it's all about the old set of pots in the kitchen cabinet that already appeared overdue, or those shoes on the rack. There is always a reason to let go of some of these things. Despite the fact that they are due for replacements, it’s sometimes surprising that we find it difficult to let go of. We still find some sort of attachment to them.

There are times when, even with the new replacement right by your side, you still have thoughts about how you used the older one. It’s whether you have those good experiences that will get you emotional or the awful ones that might have you laughing so strong.

My Laptop.

I guess our generation now lives in a time where our devices have become a part of us that we can’t let go of easily. Most times we find it challenging to let go of our phone to someone else, or times when you misplace it somewhere, you feel empty till you get them back.

I am not the laptop freak type, I am used to my mobile, but there came a time when I needed to get some work done, and my only way out was to use a laptop. I was left with no choice but to buy it. After buying it, I gradually started to find a reason to keep myself actively using the laptop till I got accustomed to it.

Over four years, I have loved how the laptop has delivered well for me, perfectly working without any issues or repairs. And I wasn't even anticipating one. Only if I knew, I should have prepared for the unexpected.

Just one day, the laptop didn’t boot anymore. I tried every other troubleshooting method, but nothing worked. I feel I am left with taking it for repairs.

The repairer said I should make a deposit of about 70,000 naira so he can order the parts from abroad. I was about the go on. But at some point, I also had it in mind that getting a new laptop won’t cost me much in addition to what he billed me. So I opted for a new one.

For the first two months, I had to battle with adjustments, from the keyboard to the screen display and all other features. I just had to get the harddrive into my new laptop so that i can have those documents from the other one remain active.

Gradually I began to forget about the older one and got used to the new one.

My wardrobe has also been another part of what I use every day. There are three sections, and it gives me the room to arrange and also restrict, encouraging me to play the game of priority.

So I had to pack all the clothes out, sort out the important ones, and let go of the ones to be trashed. But before trashing them away, I used to keep them in one basket for about a week or two so that I could get over the way I was attached to them. And if there might be any need for selection, it will come in handy.
