Three Tune Tuesday, Time Travelling Back to 1967

The last couple of days I have been taking things pretty easy. I didn't have a whole lot of work to get done and a couple small projects in the yard. But other than that it's been a nice, quiet, and enjoyable couple of days. I did consider posting an actual Easter post, but decided my Easter egg coin from Canada from Saturday would just have to do for this year!

Since it's Tuesday, I decided to get back in action and put together a fun post for Three Tune Tuesday. Today's inspiration came from seeing a performance from Jimi Hendrix from 1967. That got me thinking it might be fun to piece together something from that year musically. The list of huge bands and hits was very long, but I picked out a few very deserving ones. Ironically, the band that ruled the charts that year was The Monkees with four top 100 hits in the year alone. But I decided to pass on them this time around. So let's dive on into 1967, a year far before I was even born!

But first off, I want to say thank you to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor this fun weekly event where you can share three songs that you enjoy. One lucky participant will win some HSBI units, you can't have too many of those! So if you don't already participate feel free to jump in, just use the tag #ttt or #threetunetuesday and it's never a bad idea to do a shoutout to @ablaze .

Jimi Hendrix

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was the band created by front man Jimi Hendrix in 1966. Hendrix is regarded as one of the most influential guitarists and song writers of all time. In 1967 He debuted with multiple hits including "Foxy Lady" and today's masterpiece "Purple Haze". Hendrix was very active in writing and touring, perhaps best known for lighting his guitar on fire onstage. Sadly, he passed away in London, England under strange circumstances. It was suspected he overdosed on sleeping pills although the case was never formerly closed. He died at age 27. He was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1992.

Here's "Purple Haze":

The Doors

This legendary rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965 fronted by the iconic Jim Morrison. In 1967 they took the musical world by storm with their debut album with the huge hit "Light My Fire". Although they were able to produce several albums before 1971 with many big hits, the band ended in tragedy. While in Paris, France on vacation, Morrison suddenly died under uncertain circumstances at age 27. It was suspected that he died of a heroin overdose but the coroner stated the cause of death as heart failure. No autopsy was ever performed so no one will ever know for sure. The band was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1993 having become one of the best selling bands of all time. Here's "Light My Fire":

The Beach Boys

Formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961 this legendary rock band known for their harmonies produced a string of top 40 hits throughout the 1960's. They were composed of three brothers Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson along with their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. Sadly, all of the Wilson brothers are now deceased leaving the only Love and Jardine as current band members. They were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1988. However, in 1967 they released this hit called "Good Vibrations":

That will wrap up this edition of Three Tune Tuesday. I do hope you enjoyed the selections of the week, they are always a lot of fun to pick out. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thank you so much for all of your support. It really is deeply appreciated. I hope you all have a great day everyone!

Jimi Hendrix is definitely a one of a kind left-handedguitar player!
Ironically, one of the members of a worship band we had many years ago was the next-door neighbor of Jimi Hendrix before he was even popular. It’s really a small world, my friend!

Jimi was one of a kind, and used a right handed guitar and simply bent things to work for a leftie! He was an amazing guitarist, your friend there was lucky to know him before he made it big. Then succumbed to an early death...

My wife can't stand the Beach Boys which kind of bugs me a little, but I get that everyone has different tastes in music. I grew up listening to them and my dad and sister love them.
