In February of 1990 Nintendo released a new game here in North America that would become one of the greatest games ever produced, I'm talking about none other than "Super Mario Bros. 3". I had been playing Mario games since the early days with Donkey Kong and then the original Super Mario Bros. I was definitely very quickly addicted to this new game. Not only were the graphics somewhat improved but the new power ups made the game a lot more fun. It was also a very challenging game! Fortunately in was a single or multiplayer game which meant you could play with your friends! Those were the good old days before I graduated High School and headed out into the real world. Life was simpler and very fun!
Did anyone else ever get into Super Mario Bros. 3? It was a blast!
Friday's used to be Nineties Friday or Four Tune Fridays started by @geneeverett , but it's an event that has kind of been lost except from the posts from Gene and occasionally from myself. Today it felt like a fun topic to share as it really has been a long, long time! Even if I am publishing it one day early just like my good friend @geneeverett ! If you like music or other items from the 90's feel free to create you own post!
On the silver front I was bidding on a coin from 1999, a Silver American Eagle that was looking really promising. I put my maximum bid in prior to heading to bed as the auction ended in the middle of the night. I got outbid by one dollar! Oh well... The price was pretty inexpensive so it would have made a great flip. But have a look at this beauty, since it's also from the 1990's it fits the theme perfectly:

From eBay.com
You can't win them all... I'm always looking for items to flip for a profit, every now and you get lucky! I've shared a lot of these coins over the years, one solid Troy ounce of silver and one of the most sought after bullion coins in the world. I've left some more info in my references if you are interested!
Now time for some music from the 1990's!

I simply can't do a Nineties Friday post without including a song from these guys, one of my favorite bands! After the death of Kurt Cobain closed the era of the band Nirvana, the band's drummer Dave Grohl set his sights on his own band. Forming the Foo Fighters in 1994 he became part of yet another legendary band. Today's selection comes from their sophomore effort called The Colour and the Shape that Grohl had written at one of the lowest points in his life coming off a divorce. That can do it, believe me... This song is "Everlong":

I'll be the first to admit this isn't my favorite band, but since they are being inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame this year I thought I should include something from this 90's band. Formed in Manchester, England in 1991 they shot to fame in 1994 with their album Definitely Maybe. They had multiple hits off the record, but probably the biggest one was "Live Forever":

This legendary punk band from Garden Grove, California formed in 1984 but it took them ten long years before they were able to break into the mainstream music scene. Succeeding in the music business takes a lot of perseverance, a lot of luck, and some talent never hurt either. In 1994 they released Smash that elevated them to superstardom, however, they produced a lot of underappreciated songs prior to this release. In 1998 they released Americana which has some great songs on it, but one of the funniest has to be "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)":

I spent most of the 1990's living in South America and the Spanish speaking Caribbean so I always like to share at least one great song in Spanish. One of my favorites from the decade is the legendary Shakira!
This Colombian superstar started her career in Latin and South America in the 1990's. She became one of the biggest celebrities in the Spanish speaking world by the end to the decade paving the way for her transitioning to English and becoming a blonde. But way before that she was a beautiful brunette with a lot of talent as a songwriter and performer. I first heard her music when I was living in Puerto Rico back in 1996 and have been a fan since, this song came off her album Dónde Están los Ladrones? (Where are the Thieves) from 1998, and this song is one of my favorites "Ojos Asi" (Eyes Like Yours):

That will wrap up this Nineties Friday published one day early! I do hope you enjoyed it! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thank you so much for all of your support. I really does mean a lot to me! Have a great Thursday everyone!

Don't you hate that..... outbid by one dollar!🙄😳
I've had that happen on more than one occasion, and you keep running it through your mind if I had just been one dollar higher!😇
There's always an auction tomorrow my friend!!😀
I used to watch my friend play that game. It was back maybe the end of the 90's where the game reached my place, and only a few people could afford it. I maen it was a luxury item, as even TV was considered a luxury back then.

Mario 3 was the absolute best! So many memories. I think I had the free guide for the game from Nintendo Power.
90s Friday is back! 🎤 Mario 3, Foo Fighters, and Shakira—you really captured the essence of that decade. I totally agree that life felt more straightforward back then. Thank you for sharing your passion for coins and music. Have a great Friday (or Thursday)!
