It's Tuesday, and you know what that means – time to share some tunes for the brilliant #threetunetuesday initiative started by @ablaze!
This week we are rolling back the years and listening to some nutty Welsh rappers!
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!
@ablaze started #ttt 213 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Gym shuffle for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 212 - win 6 HBI
Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!
We were watching some YouTube at the weekend when on popped a video in Mrs T's feed. Some old bloke dressed as a rapper it looked like to me who was doing some charity shopping!
She kept saying, "That voice! That face! I know him from somewhere!"
Beats me, I said.
It wasn't until she looked him up that the penny dropped, and she realised it was Rhys from GLC.
That's Goldie Lookin Chain said Mrs T.
That's who who who said me?
She explained ....
She explained they are like our version of weird Al Yankovic if that is how you spell his name!
Goldie Lookin Chain are a Welsh comedy hip-hop group hailing from the mighty city of Newport in south Wales.
I remember going to see Newport host Cardiff at footy back in the 80s. This was the height of the Soul Crew, who were Cardiff's meanest bunch of hooligans, what a fluffing good old scrap that was. fighting on the terraces, police horses on the scene.
I got one hell of a cracker of bruised head from a rabbit punch! Cheeky bastard, got my revenge though 👹
GLC burst onto the scene in the early 2000s and were instantly recognisable by their tracksuits, gold chains.
Their Welsh accents come through when they rap too! They’re a collective, with a rotating cast of members, but some of the most well-known include Rhys (Rhys from GLC), Eggsy, Billy Webb, Mystikal, and Adam Hussain.
Over to gemini who best describes...
What sets GLC apart is their unique blend of humour and social commentary, often delivered with a satirical edge that pokes fun at everything from consumer society and "chav" culture to the everyday absurdities of life in Newport and Wales. Their lyrics are explicit, hilarious, and surprisingly insightful, offering a raw, unpolished, and very British take on the hip-hop genre. They truly are unique!
They've performed at major festivals across the Western Hemisphere and have released a surprising number of albums, always staying true to their distinctive style.
They famously declared themselves "Britain's biggest rap group" and reading reviews their live shows are legendary for their chaotic energy and audience participation.
I guess the saying goes ...
These were fun tunes, and it shows you can have all sorts of un with music!
This track is a brilliant satire of American gangsta rap, flipping the common rhetoric on its head with typical GLC wit. The video itself is a masterpiece of low-budget hilarity, and for me growing up in the UK it is full of memories!
Do you recognise things from these videos?
Next, a track that caused quite a stir with its provocative title and equally provocative lyrics, showing their couldn't give a fluff approach to comedy🤣
Definitely not one for the faint of heart or easily offended, but it perfectly encapsulates their no-holds-barred humour.
You have been warned 🤣
Actually it is quite funny!
And for our final tune, another hit that perfectly showcases their blend of relatable observation and pure Newport swagger:
Your Missus Is A Nutter showcases the everyday domestic chaos that many can probably relate to, albeit through a highly exaggerated and comedic lens.
Did they do this in other countries or just the UK!
I hope you've enjoyed this little rap back in time to Newport in south Wales for Three Tune Tuesday.
Before we go ... this was the video that Mrs T stumbled on....
He still dresses like he did 20 years ago!
Note: The 3 4 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.
I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

I enjoyed these three pieces, not only the videos, but also the lyrics. To be honest, I didn't know this group, but I liked their music: catchy, sassy, fun. Also: is it very common in that part of the world to buy in charity stores? A musical hug, Ed!
Oh I am sure that you never heard of the group. It is something different from me, and I thought yes that has to be shared!
Ah charity shopping is quite popular. A lot of people do it, although you don't get as many bargains now. When I am finished with something rather than sell it, I give it to one of the charities so they can raise funds. A charity shop hug Nance :)
