It's Tuesday, and you know what that means β time to share some tunes for the brilliant #threetunetuesday initiative started by @ablaze!
This week, my inspiration comes from the man himself @ablaze
He has been sharing some awesome tunes from Ireland, so I thought I would do the same for Scotland...
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!
@ablaze started #ttt 208 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post More Irish Tunes for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 207 - win 5 HBI
Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the FIVE sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!
I raided some of my spotify playlists and grabbed three tunes I listen to at random!
First up we are going down south to the Scottish borders and a wee town called Selkirk. The folk in Selkirk are more known for their rugby exploits than musical prowess.
Nevertheless in 2003 Frightened Rabbit were formed.
Their songs are pretty awesome which isn't surprising really being that Scott Hutchison is one helluva talented songwriter.
Mrs T loves them because they are so very Scottish in their accents when singing without being your typical perceived Glasgow/West Coast Scottish accent.
The Woodpile is from their 2013 album Pedestrian Verse and for me is one of their great sing along songs.
Next up we travel back in time to Glasgow where The Blue Nile were formed in 1981,
The band was made up of Paul Buchanan, Robert Bell, and Paul Joseph Moore and were renowned for their meticulous approach to music-making. As testament to that they only released four fluffing albums over a span of more than two decades.
Their sound is often described as synth-pop or sophisti-pop.
Tinseltown in the Rain is the lead single from their 1984 debut album A Walk Across the Rooftops.
For those of you who don't know, it often rains in Glasgow hehe and so they had plenty of experience to pen these lyrics.
Another great band and a different genre for you.
Our final Scottish tune for this Tuesday is from probably the most famous of the three bands I share today.
I wonder if our American listeners know of them, as Kurt Kobain called them "the best band in the world."
Yep we are heading to Bellshill near Glasgow and a group that was formed in 1989 and are affectionately known as The Fanniesπ€£
The band in question is Teenage Fanclub
"Sparky's Dream" is taken from their critically acclaimed 1995 album Grand Prix and is in typical Sparky's Dream style.
Great melodies and riffs and an uplifting song to listen to!
So there you have it β three randomly selected tunes from Scottish bands on spotify that I listen to.
Note: The 3 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.
I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes πΆπ΅πΆ

Feel free to come and check out Hive and I'll be here if you need a starting hand
I love the Scottish accent so it was nice to hear it in the song.
I don't know any of the bands, maybe not played much in SA?
Yes I doubt they got much airtime in SA, mind you they were popular a fair few years ago!
As a lifelong American, I can tell you that I have never heard of them!
I thought you might have heard of Teenage Fanclub as they did top the Billboard Heatseekers Albums charts a couple of times. Was pretty sure the first two you wouldn't have lol.
I really like the first one for sure. I am going to listen to them more later this week.

I have been so out of touch with my songs lately but I can say that Teenage Fanclub is more my style. I liked the upbeat of it all as I need more of that in my life right now. The first two, not so much. Maybe cause Iβm way too young? π€£ ooops! Donβt tell Nat I called her old.
lol Teenage Fanclub had hits in the last millenium as well as the last decade so you are too young for them as well, in fact come to think of it, most good music you are too young for π€£
Well I guess I donβt know a damn thing about Scottish music so that was cool. The first one is nostalgic despite being unfamiliar. Ultra 90βs vibe.
The second made me think of Talking Heads, just for a second. The third isnβt loading right now π
I thought you might have heard of Teenage Fanclub as they topped the Billboard Heatseekers Albums charts with a couple of albums. There are hundreds of Scottish bands though, I might do a few more totally random ones.
With much embarrassment, I must admit that I had never heard these three bands before. Although I liked all three, I was more attracted to The Blue Nile. One of the things I like about #ttt is that I can listen and get to know styles, genres, musicians from other latitudes. Good for that. A rainy hug!
hehe although these are your/our era I would have been surprised if you head heard of them, so no embarrassment and a non embarrassed hug to you!

lol I might do some funky bagpipes ones in the future Mick!
I have never heard of them, but they are pretty cool. I guess they weren't too big over here, but then again I wasn't around the US much in the the 90's either. Great picks!

One thing about the states and the local radio stations back then, was some UK bands getting some success in some states and not others.
And like you say if you were in South America more at that time, then yeah not much chance you heard them π€£
