Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath bowed in fluffing style

Hello music lovers and Hello hivers!

It's now Tuesday already in some parts of the world, and you know what that means – time to share some tunes for the brilliant #threetunetuesday initiative started by @ablaze!

This week there can only be one band.

The band that created Heavy Metal played their final gig, back where it all began 57 years ago in Aston, Birmingham England.

ttt215.png

That band is Black Sabbath with Ozzy Osbourne

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

@ablaze started #ttt 215 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Gym shuffle iii for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 214 - win 6 HBI

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Where to start!

Heavy Metal I am not a huge fan of. But there are certain bands and personalities I know of. Ozzy Osbourne being one such personality.

He was one of the original four lads from Aston that formed Black Sabbath. On last Saturday they performed as the original lineup for the first time in 20 years I think, it was a special farewell gig for Ozzy.

Of course I do know some songs of theirs, so it is fitting I dedicate this week's ttt to Black Sabbath.

Black Sabbath were formed in Aston, Birmingham, in 1968. They played that final gig I talked about at the football stadium of Aston Villa, their local team and I ground that I have been to a few times, although never to see music it must be said!

Black Sabbath consisted of Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums. They redefined heavy music by injecting blues and rock with a darker, heavier and often fluffing doomy sound. You can't talk about Black Sabbath without mention those riffs that you are about to hear!

They have influenced countless bands and Gemini gave me this list...

Metallica - Iron Maiden - Judas Priest - Megadeth - Slayer - Pantera - MotΓΆrhead - Guns N' Roses - Dio - Electric Wizard - Sleep - Candlemass - Type O Negative - Crowbar - Eyehategod - Down - Saint Vitus - Nirvana - Soundgarden - Alice in Chains - The Smashing Pumpkins - Melvins - Faith No More - Body Count.

For this Three Tune Tuesday, I've picked three tracks that showcase different facets of their brilliance, immense influence and fluffing darkness!

image.png

So today we have three tunes from Black Sabbath

image.png

Turns out we are going back to the year 1970 for all these songs!

Tune 1 ~ BLACK SABBATH - "Black Sabbath"

The song that started metal .... and as one fan put as his comment ....

Band: Black Sabbath
Album: Black Sabbath
SongΔ±: Black Sabbath
Genre: Black Sabbath
Year: Black Sabbath

The song Black Sabbath was released from the album Black Sabbath in 1970.

This isn't just a song ~ it's a fluffing statement of intent! A genre is born!

The opening with its chilling rain and church bells gives us a sinister tone. Then Tony Iommi's iconic riff kicks in followed up by the craziest of front men with Ozzy's haunting vocals recounting a chilling encounter.

This was 1970 so before most of us, but it was raw, heavy, and absolutely revolutionary for its time.

Black Sabbath cemented their place in history and started a genre that shaped music forever. What do you think @deraaa is this doom and sinister enough for you....

image.png

Next up is a song that is as relevant today as it was 55 years ago when it was released...

Tune 2 ~ BLACK SABBATH - "War Pigs" (Live Video)

I thought I would share a live video from the year that it was released ... yep 1970!

Black Sabbath performing "War Pigs" live at the Olympia Theater in Paris, France on December 20, 1970

Damn this is good...

As you can imagine War Pigs is an anti war anthem and taken from their second album Paranoid.

These political leaders who send young men to their deaths ~ when will it ever end?

The lyrics of Geezer Butler are so poignant and apply today as much as they did when he wrote them..

That riff again, and the drums throw in Ozzy's powerful delivery and bam you have another fluffing epic anthem!

image.png

And for our final tune we are staying on the album New York Fever, well I mean they were from New York afterall!

Tune 3 ~ Metallica with Ozzy Osbourne - Iron Man and Paranoid

Imagine being at this Metallica gig when out walks out the legend that is Ozzy Osbourne!

The title came from Ozzy Osbourne remarking that Tony Iommi's riff sounded "like a big iron bloke walking about," which then inspired Butler's science fiction story.

Would be hero turns villain, you know the story is not as far fetched as we think!

image.png

So there you have it – three tunes from Black Sabbath.

I hope you've enjoyed this little homage to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne on their last ever gig for this week's Three Tune Tuesday.

I leave with the final words from Ozzy Osbourne on Saturday..

"It’s the last song ever . Your support has enabled us to live an amazing lifestyle..thank you from the bottom of our hearts" - Ozzy is out.

Which was your favourite The Toasters tune or is it one of the many others that could have been chosen? Or have you never heard of them?!?

What tunes are you sharing this Tuesday? Let me know in the comments below!

Note: The 3 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎢🎡🎢

Can you really call it heavy metal anymore? I mean I know it was the original heavy metal, but compared to the stuff they have out there these days, it is pretty tame!

hehe that is why the other stuff isn't called heavy metal, they have their own subgenres. To me all that stuff isn't heavy metal, not sure it is all music either 🀣

One of my favorite bands, such a shame that Ozzy is being forced to retire for health reasons, but what a career he had. Those are some awesome selections from their material with Ozzy, and some of the Dio stuff was good too, but he's long since left this world behind. Awesome TTT! I thought about doing one as well but I figured there would be several already!

0.00000000 BEE

I will be honest and admit I am shocked he kept going for as long as did. I think Sharon gave his life some longevity! He was such an inspiration and a total fruit cake. Also great for Geezer that his beloved Aston Villa football club are doing so well again. Dio was so different to Ozzy but all good.

Ozzy is one of a kind and could never really be replaced! It's a miracle he didn't die of an overdose back in the 70' or 80's!

I'm not that much of a Heavy Metal fan, neither of Ozzy nor Black Sabbath, but I recognize their musical value and their influence on other bands. The only thing I remember about Ozzy is seeing him on that show he did with his whole family, The Osbournes, it was a reality show on MTV. He was already in decline and not as sick as he is now. As for retirement, I remember him retiring many times, but even though he's sicker now, maybe that's true. A musical hug, Ed 🎢

He is 76 now and I am surprised he is still around to be honest. He consumed enough drugs and alcohol for a whole town let alone one person. His wife Sharon saved his life for sure. I never saw the reality show, just saw clips from it now and again.A reality hug Nancy

Really a rear game
It's a pity that great figures like this retire quick or go into extinction because of some certain unforseen circumstances. I love these

0.00000000 BEE

Well he is 76 and a miracle he is still alive really, so no real shock he finally stops. A sign we are all getting older I think!

I'm not a heavy metal fan at all, but my brother-in-law is a super fan and I know he would have given anything to attend that Osbourne goodbye gig.

How are you, Super Ed? How are your hydrotherapies going? I hope they are working.
I'm here trying to be seated for at least a couple of hours to do some hiving hehe

Aww Super Eli how are you ;) Ah yes the second hydrotherapy session is tomorrow. So far so good, I really enjoyed the first one. The idea being that I learn enough exercises I can take them back to do in my pool!

Oh wow I think your brother-in-law would really have loved it, there were some big bands playing not just Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. I am sure there will be bits of on it YouTube if he looks.

Super Eli doing some Hiving ... I hope so, I miss our little banters we have πŸ”΅πŸ’™πŸ”΅

I don’t listen to much Ozzy Osbourne but when I do it’s usually a cool sound to it. I remember hearing Crazy Train all the time playing Madden back in the day and being like, Ozzy Osbourne actually makes cool music !LOLZ

I’m of the generation that was introduced to Ozzy Osbourne as a family man on MTV. Good times!

Cool songs though and shoutout to Ozzy Osborn!

lol yeah if you go back to his younger days I think people will be shocked that he was so influential and as you said made some cool music.

Crazy Train was another classic and his debut single going solo if I remember.

A family man lol, he was seriously a fluffing mad fluffer, how he lived to 76 is a good mystery!
