Hello, Hivers and music lovers!
Hope you had a great day. And as usual, Tuesdays are the days on Hive to share music thanks to #threetunetuesday initiated by @ablaze.
Last weekend I was with some friends at a sort of street festival on the occasion of the celebration of the 94th anniversary of one of the neighborhoods of the city. A residential area but with many stores, cafes, and restaurants. That day, there were concerts in the streets and the neighborhood's square, in addition to other cultural activities, micro-theater, and gastronomic tastings. One of the bands we most wanted to listen to is a young Venezuelan band that has given a new air to traditional Venezuelan rhythms. The band is called Cayiao.
And I say that it is a young band because they were established in 2021 under the name Cayiao, apparently from what I have read they had a previous group. But with this name, they made a more professional relaunch of the band and are giving to talk about in the local music scene.
I didn't know about them until a few weeks ago when I was with my husband in a brewery, and we had the chance to listen live to one of the members of the band. Maria Jose Castejon, who plays the maracas and the percussion of the songs. The rest of the band is made up of Manuel Ortiz on electric violin, Jose Lunar on electric cuatro, and Raymond Mariño on bass.
It's great to see a Venezuelan music band with such a good performance using traditional instruments like the cuatro and the maracas.
But before I get into the tunes, let me give you a little background for those of you who aren't familiar with #threetunetuesday. In the words of @ablaze, who started the initiative.
The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #ttt or #threetunetuesday tags that would be great. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.
You can find out more at ablaze's post for this last Tuesday with his recommendations for this week the #109.
And without further ado, let's go with the tunes.
One of the band's original songs that I had a chance to hear on Saturday. Palmera Dance is composed by the group's cuatrista, Jose Lunar.
El Vantiano is the first single released by the band under the name Cayiao.
This tune is called Guacuco, like one of the beaches of Margarita Island. And it has that name because it is a beach where you can collect clams of a variety that in Venezuela we call Guacuco.
This tune left me wishing for a getaway to Guacuco Beach when I listened to it at the concert. Doesn't it make you want to be on a Caribbean beach when you listen to it?
To close I leave you an additional tune. This is a cover of a traditional Venezuelan waltz called Viajera del Rio by the composer Manuel Yánez. This video and the song are part of a series of videos that the band has made in front of emblematic murals in Los Palos Grandes.
This one in particular is a mural by the plastic artist Badsura about a journalist named Valentina Quintero, who also appears in the video. She is known because of her shows about her travels around Venezuela. I loved Cayiao's cover of the song when I listened to it at the concert.
Which tune you liked the most?
Thank you very much for reading!
Enjoy the music, and enjoy life!

¡Hola!
