Powerful Songs for Mourning
Over the past few days, I have been carrying a pain in my heart that is not my own. Recently I discovered the story of a young girl named Luna. She was diagnosed with brain cancer, and unfortunately she passed away several months later... Her story has affected me very deeply; it has reached a point where the songs from her videos will be in my head the moment that I wake up...
One of these songs is Heal by Tom Odell.
The song tells the story of someone who has endured enough; he is finished with feeling pain and grief, and wants to begin healing. He is ready to give the burden to anything -- anyone -- so long as he will stop feeling the way that he does.
Most importantly, he wants to know that "some things last," that he will have something to hold onto. He is tired of being abandoned.

As I listened to this song on YouTube the other day, the comments were automatically scrolling by, and I glanced down at my phone in time to see, "Jesus loves you." I immediately broke down. I have been struggling with my faith recently, so I knew that it was meant for me. I knew that Jesus and His angels were with me...
The second song is a classic; I don't know of a single person who can listen to this without crying. Fix You by Coldplay.
I have always considered this to be one of my favorite songs about grief. A gentle voice confirming all of your greatest fears:

...only to reassure you that they are still with you, and they will continue to be with you as you mourn... In life, very few things are more comforting than this...
This song is obviously very important to the mother of the little girl who passed... A few months after her daughter's death, she attended a Coldplay concert and was able to personally tell Chris how much the song means to her -- to her daughter, Luna...
