3 Songs to Keep You Safe ♡

About a week ago, I was in a very dark place -- a place that I have not visited in a very long time. I felt completely alone, as though there were a vice on my heart... I knew the only thing that could grant me sanctuary was music, so I turned to it -- desperately. Every morning and every night, I would listen to these three songs, and they provided me with immense comfort and courage.

The first song is called I'll Keep You Safe by Sleeping At Last. You may be familiar with a song or two of theirs. A few of their singles are popular on TikTok, but they are most notably known for Edward and Bella's wedding song in Twilight.
Anyway, I absolutely adore this song; it has a very childlike, upbeat vibe to it ❤️ I like to imagine that it is being sung from the perspective of an angel, watching over a loved one here on earth...

There is such beautiful imagery used throughout...

And build a new silhouette / In the skylines up ahead

The smell of the falling and burning leaves / The bitterness of winter or the sweetness of spring

As you build up your collection / Of pearls that you pulled from the deep

Then, there are three lines that truly speak to me...

Your darkness will be rewritten / Into a work of fiction, you'll see (Hope, that a life filled with depression and suffering has not been for nothing...)

Dismiss the invisible / By giving it shape (God and death are much easier to perceive when we turn them into something tangible)

You are an artist / Your heart is your masterpiece / And I'll keep it safe

The second song is called Sweet Heat Lightning by Gregory Isakov. This song has truly become a favorite of mine ❤️ It is a sweet and simple country song that really calms ya down...

I believe the song is meant to capture the nostalgia for childhood that we begin to have as adults. "Monsters beneath your bed" is the most universal childhood fear, yet in the next breath Gregory claims that his "mother's house is empty," which could symbolize her passing away. The act of driving until "the wheels wear out" could symbolize how he is finally ready to put it all to rest, leave it behind...

The final song is an instrumental one, which I find to be beautiful all on its own. Instrumentals are capable of being extremely powerful and emotional, and this song happens to be one of them. It is called Jacob and the Stone from the movie Minari. Unfortunately I have never seen the film, but the soundtrack is capable of evoking an array of feelings entirely on its own.

I am a sucker for strings -- the swelling of the violins around 0:50 always stirs my heart... The song makes me feel tears, but they are tears of joy. It is truly a phenomenal song...

Anyway, those are 3 songs for Three Tunes Tuesday! 🎶 I hope you enjoyed at least one of them. Thanks for checking out my post, and please enjoy the rest of your week 🙏
