Although the circumstances around it may not be ideal, it's nice to see the crypto markets turning around a little bit. I mentioned in my post last week that I have been out of the loop for a couple of weeks. It was nice to kind of unplug and focus my mind on something besides the red or sideways movement for a brief moment.
No excuses now though, it's back to reality and between elections, "assassination attempts", and a whole plethora of other things, things are finally starting to get a bit interesting.
It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the community.
I've been reading a lot of posts here on Hive lately painting a picture of how this upcoming election is basically going to be a fight for or against crypto. While I don't argue that fact, I'm also not a fan of basing my vote on a single issue no matter how well it might benefit me.
I've mentioned it in my comments on those posts, but I still have faith the crypto lobby is going to do its job and turn the tide in favor of cryptocurrency. @edicted wrote a post the other day and pointed out how ludicrous it is that crypto has become a partisan issue at all. His comment about what if the Internet had been a partisan issue like this really stood out to me.
Speaking of the government, the House Majority Whip is once again calling for head of the SEC Gary Gensler to be removed. I'm actually not sure if Tom Emmer is the same one who has called for Good Old Gary's removal in the past, but either way, it's just another black mark against the SEC.
Unfortunately, due to the current political climate, even if Tom has legitimate concerns about the direction the SEC is heading, they will likely fall on deaf ears simply because of the aforementioned partisanship.
It's just sad we find ourselves in this place...
I've seen this mentioned on Hive before, but this was the first time I saw it with my own eyes. I stepped into Costco with @mrsbozz the other day and they had this sign just past where you show the greeter your membership card.
Hats off to the person walking around with $12,000+ in their pocket where they have to actually worry about the "limit of 5". Heck, even one was out of reach for me. Perhaps if they had some fractional offerings I might have been able to participate, but I kind of doubt it. Silver seems to be the more accessible precious metal for me right now.
Either way, it was cool to finally see it in my neck of the woods. Our Costco has only been open for a couple of years and due to that fact I don't think we get all of the same stuff some of the older and larger stores do.
I've talked about Nuscale several times before. They are a small modular nuclear reactor company that I have been following for quite some time now. Even before their company went public I was really excited by some of their technology and promises.
Personally, I feel like SMR's are a viable option for relatively clean energy moving forward. Anyway, I bought some of their stock when it went public around $10 per share. It sat there for a while before it took a dive (along with everything else) earlier this year and perhaps some of last year.
Recently though, the stock seems to be on a bit of a rebound and it has been sitting in the $14 to $16 range for a couple of days now. It's nice to see some positive action on this stock. I just hope they can start making some profits and really move that price up! The ticker symbol is SMR if you want to check it out.
The #silvergoldstackers Monster Raffle is happening this weekend. If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, you should do that before the window closes. If you want more information, check out this great post by @welshstacker.
Personally, I bought quite a few tickets. Actually, I bought some, then I had a bit of FOMO And threw another batch of HIVE at it. I'm really hoping I can get my hands on some of that shiny silver or gold this time around!
I'm still rolling along with my HIVE goals. I feel like I should be at 80K HP by the end of the Summer and my goal of 10K HBD is right around the corner. Right now I am still moving all of my HBD rewards into liquid HIVE so I can keep it on hand in case there happens to be a pump. As dismal as the HIVE price seems right now, we have to remember the "real bull" is still ahead of us.
It doesn't matter what anyone says, there are zero guarantees and absolutely anything could happen. Anything over $1 and I will start slowly moving bits of that liquid HIVE back into HBD. Either way, it's going to stay on the chain. I have other tokens I would liquidate first if I needed something to move into fiat.
Have an awesome weekend!
I still can't believe that Costco is selling gold now. That's pretty cool!
I'm buying, but I'm powering up almost everything. I'm trying to get over my dislike of the idea of powering down and trying to figure out when I should start doing that to catch the peak bull. Then into HBD, then rebuy Hive when the bear comes and power back up. (Sounds like a great plan, but I'll probably screw it up)
I'm kind of on the same page as you. I will likely start a large unstake when/if the price gets to a certain point. Take the first payout and move it to HBD, then cancel the rest of the powerdown.
Next stop for gold, $2500?
Woot!
Nuscale has a great concept and it's badly needed. We just have to get people over the fear of the work nuclear....
Don't you carry around $12K everywhere you go? That's a lot cash to walk into Costco... I wouldn't mind having a few more of those stored up though.
The SEC head should go, but it's politics like always, we have such a nice government where politics is more important than common sense....
I like the idea that their reactors are supposedly meltdown proof. Yeah, I don't think I even have that much money in my savings!
Nice shot for the cover. I like the colours!
Thank you!
I wonder how big an issue crypto is for most voters or if the politicians actually like it. It means giving up some control for them. This next election is important for the world in other matters.
Is that a good deal for gold at Costco? I've not seen them sell it here, but then I wouldn't be buying that much. Maybe paddleboards and power tools could be a good investment :)
I totally agree. There are much larger issues that need to be focused on, but here we are...
Amazing all the news coming out right now and speculation about what Trump might or might not say! Lol.
Fingers crossed we get our Hive alt season soon, it would be great to see the hive price pump.
I hope so too!

Yeah, I collect 1 gram gold maple leafs and Natural Gold nuggets when I can find them. Much easier to stack those over time.
Very cool!
